Let me add one more: he's done this several times already which is the reason the kids added bricks in the first place.

Oh, he actually posted it
That is 100% in character for MAGA: at the same time they screech "dOn'T cAlL uS nAzIs" while also saying "Hitler did many good things"

AI is doing job interviews now—but candidates say they'd rather risk staying unemployed than talk to another robot
candidates say they'd rather risk staying unemployed than talk to another robot
Fuck you, Fortune. They never said that. They say they skip AI interviews in favor of others. No jobseeker wants to stay unemployed. What a disgusting headline, what a horrible outlet.

Tesla Is Allegedly Withholding Wages Of German Employees On Sick Leave
I read a German article a few days ago. They definitely threatened to withhold wages. They also pressured workers into disclosing their health info. Via email.
The Unions are (orders of magnitude) more active against Tesla than against comparable employers.
Oh and of course Tesla does not like people being in unions in the first place.
It's the same playbook, but in a different country that actually has worker protection.

Multiple airports refuse to play Kristi Noem video that blames Democrats for government shutdown
I'm more concerned with the majority of airports that went "Yes mein Fuhrer, instead of news channels we will play this glorious propaganda video!"
I mean, good on those that resisted of course.

The Absurd Prosecution of a Man Who Posted a Charlie Kirk Meme - Larry Bushart Jr. posted trolling memes on a Facebook thread about a vigil for Kirk. He’s been in a Tennessee jail ever since.
The type of person who arrested him:
By Sunday evening, however, the posts had gotten the attention of Perry County Sheriff Nick Weems. An avid Facebook user himself, Weems had shared the information about the Kirk vigil on his own page a few days earlier. He had also posted his own emotional response to the news of Kirk’s murder in September, warning ominously about the “evil” in our midst. “Evil could be your neighbor,” he wrote. “Evil could be standing right beside you in the grocery store. It could be your own family member and you never even know it.”
Christofascist nutjob.

Yeah I hate that shit too. My guess is it's a variation of "2 people walking side by side on a sidewalk automaticallly have priority over a single" - wtf, no, walk in line if there's people coming.

Professor Reinstated After Being Fired For Charlie Kirk Post
This is what he got fired for btw:
“Charlie Kirk says gun deaths are ‘unfortunately’ worth it to keep 2nd Amendment,” read the headline of an article Michael shared. He did not add any additional comment on it.
And this is how he got back:
a settlement agreement between Michael and the university, showing the school will dish out $500,000 and reimburse “therapeutic counseling services.”
“APSU agrees to issue a statement acknowledging regret for not following the tenure termination process in connection with the Dispute,” the settlement reportedly reads. “The statement will be distributed via email through APSU’s reasonable communication channels to faculty, staff, and students.”
And yes, he's working there again since December. BTW it's $500,000, not 50,000.
Only because he fought back, I presume. Fight back, on all levels!

Where did you think they were coming from?
TikTok outrages should never become news headlines.
But it's the Daily Fail, so 🤷
That said - as if he could tell what each one would taste like.

75 organizations have published a joint letter warning that accepting US car standards would risk European lives
Why is this even on the table... oh yeah:
the hastily agreed trade deal with the US
Fucking $deity I can't believe so many politicians a) play Trump's obvious game and b) still cling to the "USA our friend & ally" narratvie of decades past.
“with respect to automobiles, the United States and the European Union intend to accept and provide mutual recognition to each other’s standards.” Yet, EU vehicle safety regulations have supported a 36% reduction in European road deaths since 2010. By contrast, road deaths in the US over the same period increased 30%, with pedestrian deaths up 80% and cyclist deaths up 50%.
No shit. For once I hope the word "intend" is as empty as it sounds. I don't see the US delivering on that anyhow.
Is there a petition we can sign?

Schools are using AI to spy on students and some are getting arrested for misinterpreted jokes and private conversations
With the help of artificial intelligence, technology can dip into online conversations and immediately notify both school officials and law enforcement.
Not sure what's worse here: how the police overreacted or that the software immediately contacts law enforcement, without letting teachers (n.b.: they are the experts here, not the police) go through the positives first.
But oh, that would mean having to pay somebody, at least some extra hours, in addition to the no doubt expensive software. JFC.

Parents are charged after their son, 7, is struck dead by a driver
“In such cases, adults must be held accountable for their responsibilities to ensure a safe environment for their children,” police said in a statement.
That's ... beyond callous and (hopefully) has no legal standing, even in the USA.
Let's fix it:
The "adults" who continue building car-friendly environments that are positively dangerous to pedestrians need to be held accountable for their responsibilities to ensure a safe environment.

fake keepass repo on github
Thank you for your service.
I use keepassxc and although I'm unlikely to ever install it any other way than through my distro's package manager without 3rd party repos, this is good to know and hits a personal note.
Fuck all nefarious hackes and scammers. I just re-installed my server and installed crowdsec on it not 24h hours ago, and already got 20 000 bans. Twenty thousand! It's getting worse and worse and worse and worse.

Israel hatches plan to kidnap Greta Thunberg into “terrorist-level conditions”
There is something particularly disgusting about how right-wing talking heads have latched onto this fantasy of punishing Greta Thunberg, for many years now.
Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s national security minister, is planning to present Benjamin Netanyahu with a plan to detain the activists in harsh “terrorist-level” conditions in the Ktzi’ot and Damon detention centres for females, according to Israel Hayom, one of Israel’s biggest newspapers.
“Following several weeks at Ktzi’ot and Damon, they’ll be sorry about the time they arrived here. We must eliminate their appetite for another attempt.”
What is wrong with these people? You can literally hear the quickening of their breath when they voice their torture fantasies like that.
The activists were also offered the chance to watch footage of Hamas atrocities from Oct 7, which they refused, according to Israel Katz, Israel’s defence minister.
I heard this one before. Like it was some sort of gotcha. Like anybody even claimed that Hamas killing people is OK.
Fucking perverts.

What Happens to Linux After Linus Torvalds? We Finally Have the Answer to This Uncomfortable Question
tl;dr:
If, for whatever reason, progress on the torvalds/linux.git repository is affected, someone has to get things moving within 72 hours. This person could either be the one who organized the most recent Maintainer Summit or the chair of the Linux Foundation's Technical Advisory Board (TAB).
They will be tasked with pulling together the people who were invited to the last summit, along with members of the TAB.
It gets more complicated after that, but essentially that's it.
Oh, and I'm pretty sure there already is more than one top maintainers for the kernel code anyhow.

FBI agent who investigated Renee Good's death resigns
This is likely the reson she resigned:
The agent initially was working with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension when the shooting happened and opened a civil rights investigation, CNN reports. She was then ordered to reclassify it as an investigation into an assault on the officer and the FBI blocked the Minnesota BCA from the investigation.
