Trying to take a break and experiencing issues

So I've been taking gummies for about 2 years, smoking weed for about 1 year and the last 6 months I've had to smoke more and more to the point that I would smoke a complete huge joint to get a small high, and that three times a day.

Basically I went from feeling always normal and getting high to relax and enjoy to feeling always anxious and needing to get high to feel normal.

I decided to take a month break and after that maybe resume only on weekends

I'm 5 days in now and I gotta say it's been mostly okay-ish with the biggest symptoms being extreme exhaustion and weight loss. Is this normal?

I wake up, feel fine, jump out of bed, get dressed quickly to walk the dog and I'm exhausted for the next half hour and I just need to sit or even lie down. Then I suddenly feel better and I can walk around and nothing happens but if I remotely exert myself, say, I make the bed, I feel like my body crashes and I need to lie down for half an hour.

Basically I have energy for about 60 seconds to do something semi intensive, then I crash

Appetite is low, i need to stuff food in my face to eat, i dont feel like i want to eat.

I've lost quite a bit of weight, went from 89kgs (say 178 pounds or so?) to 85 (170 pounds)

Is any of this normal, and if it is, how long will this last until I feel normal again?

[News] MjBizDaily: Why the federal hemp THC ban is bad news for cannabis genetics

This, to me, is much more concerning than the news about an eventual-probably rescheduling. Having to buy seeds on the darkweb, or at state-legal dispensaries assuming they continue selling them, would be a huge stumbling block to homegrowers. I assume that's the intent by whoever lobbied for this move.

The good news is, it doesn't go into effect until November 2026. Stock up your seed banks before then just in case, I'd say.

Clones and tissue cultures may end up being a loophole to this policy as well, but that's apparently legally unclear for now. (Which, at least for cannabis, usually translates to "as good as legal".)

[News] Donald Trump Orders Attorney General to Pursue Cannabis Rescheduling

This article by Vincente LLP, a cannabis law firm, covers what rescheduling does and doesn't mean.

It's also important to note that Trump did not directly reschedule cannabis (something which, as I understand it, the Controlled Substances Act actually does give the Executive Branch unilateral authority to do) but just directed the Attorney General to "complete the rulemaking progress" related to rescheduling. It might come soon, or it might be political theater and get forgotten about.

My assumption is that this is a result of lobbying by major corporations, and it will happen.

As a Californian, I expect the best case (and most likely) scenario is that nothing meaningfully changes except some benefits for MSO's (who usually don't deserve benefits because they grow trash weed, except 710Labs). I used to work in the cannabis industry (and may again soon), and there doesn't seem to be much apparent alarm by brands. But maybe they're just playing it cool.

I expect the worst case scenario is Malboro selling light dep garbage and hotdog-water distillate at Walgreens or Walmart. I'm not sure how this will (or won't) affect other states. The Malboro outcome might be more likely in states which have a weak cannabis market.

An estimated 60% of California's cannabis sales are thought to be on the legacy market ("illegal" by illegitimate laws). Unless it's purely an issue of price with little regard to quality - which I don't think it is - then I don't see either outcome changing that.

I think the goal should obviously be descheduling cannabis. No government has the authority to legislate what you do with your own body.

Thoughts?

You guys just don't understand the mission it used to be just to get a bag of weed.

I'm not trying to sound like a grumpy old man but damn… you guys today just walk into a store, point at a jar, tap your card and walk out with weed stronger than anything we ever had, like it’s nothing.

Back in the 80s, 90s, early 2000s? You know not that long ago, man you had to go on a fucking quest. You needed to know a guy who knew a guy. maybe he was home or maybe not, maybe he was high and forgot.

Sometimes you waited in some sketchy ass parking lot for hours for some guy or end up in some dude’s crusty basement watching him play video games just hoping he'd remember why you were even there. You'd get a little sandwich bag, tied in a knot, full of shake and maybe a bonus hair or two, no labels, no strains, no "terps" or “hybrids” or lab results, no Indica or Sativa. You get what they have.

And don’t get me wrong. I love how far it’s come. but y’all got no idea what we went through to get a dime bag 😂
