It would be nice if the thunderbrid filter did have the option to scan the mail source. and based on some search like part of url you can filter that e-mail.

Really missing that, because the spam link always have the same url. But the source e-m ail not so you can only filter on that url.

Calendar invites on Android

On Android, I am using Thunderbird connected via IMAP, and using CalDAV with DAVx5 to sync my calendar. On desktop, when I receive a calendar invite to Thunderbird, I am able to accept/decline. However, on Android, I have no option to Accept/Decline. I believe this is because on desktop, Thunderbird has a calendar client, while on Android it doesn't. But this is crazy to me. I am struggling to find a way to accept invites on mobile.

Using F-Droid app KashCal to sync calendars from Fastmail👍

Just thought I'd share this while I'm putting it through its paces and attempting to make a break from Proton Mail: I'm using KashCal to sync Fastmail calendars to Android (well, Graphene), and so far they seem to play well together as well as with Betterbird.

What's nice about this app is that it has the functionality of DAVx5 built into it, and also it has some good calendar widgets. Not in any way associated with the programmer, just thought I'd pass this along.

EDIT: One thing I forgot to mention—when I first tried signing in to KashCal, it didn't accept my Fastmail password. Almost immediately afterward I got a message from Fastmail directing me to its web version where it asked me to authorize the KashCal API (?) and it generated a special password that Fastmail will only use with KashCal, for security/privacy reasons, just in case. Kudos to Fastmail for making that part so easy.

Mozilla’s Betrayal of Open Source: Google’s Gemini AI is Overwriting Volunteer Work on Support Mozilla

TL;DR: Mozilla’s translation bot on Support Mozilla (that is currently overwriting user contributions is based on the closed source, copyright infringing LLM, Google Gemini. This is in spite of Mozilla claiming that they are at the forefront of open source AI, and belies their exhortations to choose to build open source AI and data sets. Although Mozilla has experience in attracting open contributions for data sets in projects like Common Voice, Mozilla is using a closed data set to overwrite open contributions. Since (paid) Gemini queries do not train the model, Mozillians can expect to correct errors every time the bot automatically updates an article.

Thank Mozilla for Killing Localization on Support Mozilla (And Replacing Human Contributions With AI Bots)

TL;DR: Mozilla is killing localization on Support Mozilla, overwriting articles written by humans with machine generated translations. Although Mozilla knows that their AI doesn’t localize or adhere to style guides, Mozilla is going live with it anyway. I thank locale leaders and localizers for their tireless efforts. Locale leaders seem to be obviated by AI, and Mozilla has nothing to say about it.

How do I whitelist external content for e-mails in Thunderbird?

How do I whitelist external content for e-mails in Thunderbird?

To protect my privacy and prevent tracking pixels, I had blocked external content in Thunderbird. Previously, a bar appeared above the mail in Thunderbird indicating that external media was hidden in these messages - and on the right I could then open a drop-down menu to add domains to the whitelist.
For a few weeks/months now (currently Thunderbird 141.0 x64), however, only ‘To protect your privacy, Thunderbird has blocked remote content in this message.’ appears here, followed by an X to close the notification.

I have added [email protected] and gg.deals to the whitelist - if they are other domains, I can no longer identify them in the new view. 'Allow remote content in messages' is activated in the settings.
What can I do to see the external content again? Some messages, especially those from familiar senders, are really unpleasant to process.

Addons not compatible...again...no alternatives...dev-oopise

again. and again they screw it up.What a piece of shit software this has become? Everything, seriously... the design is a waste of whitespace - this has not been designed but forced on humans by unhuman devs that are sick.

Thunderturd also decides if a plugin is compatible or not but this has gotten out of hand because ppl develop plugins in their spare time and these assholes at TB expect ppl to work for them for free. Fuck Thunderbird and the people behind it. Like anything Moz touched! Mozilla is the EA of web.

Constant mocking by the devs: "Your plugin has been deactivated" and offer a button "search for alternatives" well knowing there arent any.

The number of plugins for TB will decrease because of the decisions made by ppl that work on thunderbird. The quality of the plugins will decrease as so often proven by the TB devs - threaded view is a stolen idea they fucked up.

This is the equivalent of a dictatorship. Person 1 invents a nice plugin, moz devs are butt hurt, steal function claiming it is beneficial if it is part of the core app. that is a lie! fuck those devs.

feel free to downvote, ban or whatever...this is an echochamber that has proven over and over again that any criticism is met with downvotes and yet thunderbird has not gotten better at any point in time! if you are using thunderbird in 2025 you are sick and pathetic.
