How much zenith tech do Aloy and the focus gang actually have?

They bring back some containers and hardware to the base but don't seem to immediately put it to any major use

The zenith printer was heavily damaged but according to Sylens it could possibly be repaired with the right materials but by the ending of burning shores it still seems that it was not getting alot of attention so their means of fabricating more equipment seems very limited for zenith tech but Londra was able to use a horus to make zenith equipment and even an advanced ship and we see in-game that there are quite a number of them in closer proximity to the regional control center but it would likely still need some work just to get some part of one working

We actually don't see alot of utility zenith tech at their base aside from their printer and shuttle Most of what we see we don't know what it does for sure, thos wierd spheres they could be generators, storage silos or even servers for all we know The whole lobby area up the tower seems just for decoration And those tunnel areas don't go to an area we get to explore In burning shores we definitely get to see alot more and even some that could be very useful to Aloy

Like the defense drones could be used to keep settlements safe if heph decides to become more active and direct

Or those generators on the horus to power zenith or old world tech at settlements if gaia starts teaching more through mass produced focuses thanks to printers

And even spector gauntlets that don't need cybernetic implants though I highly doubt they will have those replace our perfectly fine bow for game play purposes

Far zenith definitely had way more tech that they just didn't use since they didn't want to set up a permanent presence on earth but that might be stored on the Odyssey or apolo which seems like apparently wasn't merged with gaia by the zeniths but is instead still in space on the Odyssey and is not currently in the direct possession of the focus gang, my best guess is that the zeniths merged gaia with an emty shell of apolo, some or all of the software but non of the data ,archives or media portals stored on it to help make merging gaia with heph faster

For all we know FZ could have achieved teleportation but it needed more energy they could have produced in the circumstances and plus they and their robots could fly already so not the best use of time and resources on their way station

A post I made on Reddit but reposted here

SPOILER I was bored and began thinking about what I would do if I were in game, so here it is, I was wondering if y'all think anything wouldn't work or not be worth it

First of all I think it would make more sense to move their HQ from the regional control center to the Odyssey. It might seem a bit strange at first but hear me out

Based from the ending of FW, it seems Aloy is going to be getting help from tribes from all over, wouldn't it make more sense to have their HQ that everyone neets up at is mobile and in orbit so that it's easier for everyone to get to, considering they now have a mostly automated launch shuttle

Plus the Odyssey would have infrastructure on it that might not even exist in a form that humans can use anymore on earth, we saw the printing tech that the zeniths had, it's safe to say they have atleast 1 if those aboard the Odyssey. Imagine if the group used it to mass produce things like focuses, it would differently help to keep everyone they recruited coordinated

Then there is the problem of how old the stuff they're currently using is, the most important thing they currently have, Gaia, is currently stored on servers that have gone hundreds of years without any maintenance in a facility that was never meant to store so much data, I know Gaia tells us the place was meant to store a lot, but compare the RC to Gaia prime. The Odyssey, although as mentioned by Sylens, was probably left without maintenance for hundreds of years as well, but the difference is

1 as a mentioned it has insane manufacturing tech

2 it was actually intended to store such large amounts of data

Then they's probably one thing that I feel I should mention though I highly doubt they would make use of that possibility

The Odyssey is the perfect backup plan incase they fail to find a way to stop nemesis

Think about it, there's no guarantee that they'd be able to find a way to defeat nemesis in time, so although they're currently choosing to stay on earth to fight nemesis, what if they fail? The Odyssey, if they move Gaia to it, is literally the best thing they could have in that scenario, it already has everything needed to jumpstart an entire biosphere stored on it and the zeniths spent from what we could tell the overwhelming majority of their time after they returned to earth improving and restalking it resources

It makes sense to have it as a last ditch effort for a chance of life being saved if they fail without having to give everything up while they might still have a chance at stopping it

Next, I think it would make sense for them to follow Hephaestus' lead and try to brute force control over atleast some cauldrons, think about it, if Hephaestus is able to break into cauldrons despite the fact it would normally need Gaia to take control of them, then why can't Gaia do the same?

Even if not anywhere near a global scale, it would certainly help their efforts to decrease Hephaestus' power and if done in certain areas possiblely help reduce the amount of dangerous machines near settlements

Then also there's a gameplay aspect to be considered, actually making the Odyssey explorable is probably going to be a bit difficult unless we can only explore a relatively small section of it, since from what we can see from holograms, it would need to have gravity that doesn't go just one way, but inside changes to let Aloy walk around the large ring shown

But aside from that, it would also help to get the same experience of exploring a high tech place that you've decided to call home that we got in FW but without feeling to much like a copy paste. It could be old in areas that were mostly left untouched by the zeniths, but then in other areas that the zeniths upgraded and refurbished be super high tech, which would probably be very interesting if done right

Anyway this is all I have for now, sorry if it's a bit long

Theory on Tilda/far zenith

Anyway I randomly though of this a while ago and have to share

It has to do with the design of basically all the zenith stuff we see

I noticed that all the zeniths have their own outfits, but few had outfits that actually matched the rest of their theme going on everywhere else with the gold and white and blue stuff

Only two I think that had white and gold was Verbena and Tilda, though notably Verbena had very little of the blue stuff

We know Tilda was good at programming and from how things played out, it seemed that she was the sole creator of Spector prime and designed it in secret

What if robotics and software development weren't the only things she was good at?

We know the zeniths were few in numbers, which combined further with few of them actually being scientists, engineers, architects, etc. and that they stagnated for the most part, meaning they had very few people that were actually working on improving tech and designing new stuff

What if Tilda was one of the main people that still actually kept on making new stuff?

It would explain why everything from the Spectors to their base is completely in line with Tilda's design scheme while the rest of the zeniths immediately look different from everything else around them

Well everyone except Verbena, what if she was copying Tilda's esthetic? It could explain why Tilda is so dismissive of Verbena

It would also score her a few points for her plan actually having a chance to work

Of the already small crew that came to earth, Tilda was okay with all except herself being killed leaving only her and Aloy that would be on the Odyssey, a space ship that would go on a journey for probably hundreds of years in deep space then go to a hostile world that would need to not only terraformed which would mostly be done by Gaia, but also actually have infrastructure built

This at first would seem absurd for any single person to do and make sure everything keeps working, but if she had spent her time wisely and made full use of Apollo(something that could have appeared as a final parting gift after a few decades of her having an obsessive focus on her former lover, and therefore something she might of felt personally obligated to use) , she would be in a position where something like that could be possible

I'd like to discuss Horizon Burning Shores

I just finished Horizon Burning Shores (I know, a bit late) and wanted to discuss it! I posted this elsewhere on a different community (and account), but didn't get any discussion, so trying again here (also, this community appears empty and I wanna fix that).

FULL SPOILERS FOR THE DLC

SPOILERS

SPOILERS

So, random thoughts in no particular order:

  1. The Horus fight was fantastic and a long time coming. I think we were all waiting for a chance to finally fight a Horus and it didn't disappoint. The initial sneaking past the invincible and very hard hitting tentacles set things up great. Seeing the whole thing rise up had me giddy! And then it just goes on and on and really makes us work for it (I would have been disappointed if a Horus -- even an ancient and rusty one -- was too easy).

  2. I liked Seyka and also liked that there was a romance option (but it also made it clear that saving the world is the priority). It's just nice for Aloy to have someone she can relate to in that way.

  3. I wish there were more machines. It kinda felt like the bilegut was the only new machine. The waterwing feels nearly identical to the Sunwing. The stingspawn don't feel like standalone enemies (more like a part of the bilegut). The Horus is great, but it's only a one off boss enemy. I was hoping for some fresh new enemies to make exploration more interesting.

  4. Exploration sometimes felt a little disappointing. I enjoyed how absolutely gorgeous the game is. It is fantastic world building. But so much of the map just doesn't have anything actually there. It looks pretty, but besides machines and generic items, there is nothing to collect. I feel like a few more side quests were needed and for a several more buildings to actually have some kinda lore to them. As an aside, I don't understand why datapoints are so hard to find. I scoured every inch of the map and found fewer than half of the world datapoints

  5. Overall I liked the villain. It was good to have a single villain to focus on so that he could be built up more. I felt a bit bad for him when I learned his wife cheated with his best friend and that was the start of his rampant paranoia. But then I learned he was literally brainwashing people (plus the whole radiation space ship thing) and it was back to "yup, he's gotta die".

  6. I'm really glad this DLC takes place after the base game and takes advantage of this. Waaaay too many games these days are seemingly afraid to make DLC require beating the game. I guess they want to make the DLC more accessible? Putting the DLC after the story let it utilize the threat of Nemesis as well as carefully incorporate flying.

  7. I do kinda wish there were more returning character interactions. It was nice to chat with Sylens for a bit, though.

  8. I really liked Pangea World! It was a fantastic setting. Full of interesting old world sights, lots of potential for stealth, it was compact and had lots of depth, and I always like theme park levels in general.

  9. I kinda think Nova, Walter's AI, was a bit underused. A thousand year old AI from off world? I would have soooo many questions. But instead she almost immediately asks you to kill her and you do. Wish we could have sent her to live freely with Gaia so that she could lore dump us in the third game. And a bit more lore dumping in this DLC, for that matter.

  10. The Heaven¢ sanctuary was really neat. Stepping into that place and seeing all the gigantic posters of Walter's face was quite a moment. It was when we really started to learn what Walter was like. I felt bad for those Quen. To them, the ancestors are like gods. But they seem to know the ancestors are dead. Finding out an ancestor is alive and witnessing their god-like technology has to be seriously convincing. And those Quen thought they had a chance at a better life. A world where they wouldn't be constantly fighting against horrifying machines to survive. Only to find out it's a sham. Oof.

  11. Some of the new abilities are neat. Though a bunch are so forgettable that I don't remember what most of them are. I loved the grapple critical strike and used that a ton. I also found the valor ability that berserks all nearby enemies to be very fun for dealing with large groups.

  12. I like that we got a smidge of progress against Nemesis, in the form of Walter's notes where he lists 21st century arms companies that may be useful against Nemesis. I was kinda expecting the DLC to dance around Nemesis, leaving it entirely for the third game. Was good to get some teases. Similar for Walter's notes giving the first person perspective of just how Nemesis killed some of the Zeniths and how terrified he is.

  13. Perhaps I'm too used to other games where anything that looks interesting probably contains something. But this DLC is just chock full of buildings that look interesting but in fact have nothing. Can't be entered, nothing on top (I checked a bunch), nothing around them. In a way, this is probably just a sign of how great their world design is such that downtown LA is actually full of unique towers, but does feel a bit oddly disappointing when most of them are just for looks.

Overall I'd give the DLC an 8/10. I enjoyed the story and setting a lot, but it felt empty at times and I really wish there was another machine type or two.
