Laser printer prints a mess

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/37035021

hi everybody!

found an abandoned HP Laserjet 1020 in the dumpster. got it home, cleaned it and fitted the toner cartridge. it installed fine, prints fine, except the mess all over the paper (see pic).

now I haven't had to do with printers in at least a decade, but I seem to remember it's something with the thing inside the toner cartrdidge, so replacing the cartrdige should fix it.

can someone confirm this, as I can't really afford to waste money if it's something inside the printer. thank you!

Laser printer lines across page 🤔

Can anyone suggest what causes these lines across the page?

Is a new toner cartridge likely to fix this?

Edit: Line separation is 62.5mm

Edit 2: Thank you to everyone who replied. I've ordered a new toner cartridge and will update this if that solves the problem 🫡

Final update: A new toner cartridge fixed it. It's now printing perfectly! Thank you.

AirPrint on a HP MFD?

I'm trying to get an iPhone to see a HP MFP via AirPrint.

The printer has wireless installed and can accept a print from an Android phone, it can also accept a print from said Android device via WiFi-Direct.

What do you have to configure, all I can find is a bunch of priority settings that I don't quite understand, like lpd auto & lpd raw.

Anybody have any clue why our E77830 doesn't show up on an iDevice?

Welcome!

I work for a company that sells, fixes, refurbishes copiers. We're not the manufacturer. With the exodus from reddit I thought i'd try to make a page for us poor souls here. Specifically I work in the IT department, it's up to me to get our clients printing and scanning.
