Bought start of summer and gave them their first proper clean. They were muddy and green from cutting grass.

Bick 1 followed by bick 4 and then Saphir suede water resist spray.

These are in the wonderful fudge leather and and are taking on a nice worn in sheen in places. Highly recommend JG, any other fans here?

I bought a pair of Xero Dillon canvas sneakers about a year ago, intending to just wear them at the gym. I've ended up wearing them as my everyday shoes as well, and the canvas is starting to wear away in some places.

I'm looking for a similar pair. I'd even be willing to just buy another pair of the Xeroes, even though I wish that they lasted longer.

I have been using vivobarefoot shoes for a while and was generally satisfied with them.

My last pair broke after several years of usage, so I decided to buy a new pair. Bad choice.

After about half a year of usage, I could already see the soles getting extremely thin. At this moment I don't dare using them anymore for fear that I will get a hole in the sole.

I contacted onsport (vivo reseller here in australia) and they say the manufacturer only have 6 months warranty.

What should I do? 6 months is not a reasonable lifespan for shoes, is it?

Also, are there any barefoot shoes which are still of good quality/durable? And reasonably priced?

I don't even really mean this as much of a complaint, since these types of shoes have thin soles and therefore can't really have a knobby grip pattern on the bottom like other shoes can. We know they have less traction. I'm mainly just posting because it's quiet in here. :P

I recently bought a pair of Primus Flows from ReVivo and I thought I would do a quick review of the process and the shoes.

Buying shoes from ReVivo

I bought a pair of the Primus Flows with the Good condition. The 4 conditions are explained on ReVivo's website as follows:

We offer four conditions of footwear on ReVivo, and our prices reflect the level of wear and repair the products show. Never Worn is like new, while Excellent will show very minimal, if any, signs of wear. Great will show some signs of wear and repair, while Good have noticeable signs of wear and repair such as marks, scuffs and/or patches. No matter its condition, all our refurbished footwear is thoroughly cleaned and fully functional.

I was slightly concerned about the Good condition shoes, but I figured that going on a couple of runs would make even new shoes eventually look similar, so I decided to take the plunge. The Primus Flows currently retail for 170 EUR on Vivo's website, while a pair of the Good condition on ReVivo is 87 EUR (a 49% discount), so it seemed like a pretty good deal. I live in the EU, and the standard shipping from the UK came out to be 11 EUR, making my total 98 EUR.

I placed the order on 2025-09-09, and it was shipped by ReVivo on 2025-09-11. I then received the shoes on 2025-09-15.

The shoes came in a single ReVivo-labeled box, and they were not wrapped or packaged in anything else, which was fine for me.

When inspecting the condition of the shoes, Vivo's description of "noticeable signs of wear and repair such as marks, scuffs and/or patches" seemed to be pretty accurate. There were some signs that the shoes had been worn in the past, especially in the insole-less insides and the outsoles of the shoes. But that seems to be more than worth the 49% discount, so I don't mind the aesthetic blemishes at all.

Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with my first purchase on ReVivo, and I will keep my eyes on the site to see if I can buy some of the Vivo models I'm looking at in the future.

Initial impressions of Primus Flow

My all-time favorite hobby is trail running, for which I have been using the Primus Trail Knit FGs. The shoes have gotten me through some epic trail runs, including a 50K trail race and 63K solo trail run. But I recently moved to a country in the EU without any mountains, so I am unfortunately now relegated to pounding pavement for running, which I don't find to be as enjoyable.

I had been using the Vivo Primus Knit without the insoles as my daily shoe and road running shoe, which I have really enjoyed. But now that I'm training for my 4th road marathon, I am starting to increase my road mileage, and I have started to need a bit more protection for my joints plus a dedicated road running shoe. I was debating between the Primus Lite 3.5s and the Primus Flows, and I settled on the lightweight shoes designed specifically for road running.

For sizing: I wear size 43 on my Primus Trail Knit, Primus Lite All Weather, but size 42 on my Primus Lite Knit without the insoles. I went with size 43 on the Primus Flows, and they fit great.

I've taken them out on 4 runs (1 speed interval and 3 recovery runs) so far, and I like them so far as road runners, but I won't be using them as my everyday walking shoes.

The pros of the shoes:

• Extremely lightweight at 159g for size 42
• The midsole provides some protection, so I'm not afraid to use them for long runs
• Great heel lock that helps the foot stay in place while running

The cons of the shoes:

• The outsole is not really flexible and doesn't have as much ground feel due to the midsole, making it not so great for everyday walking shoes
• The insides of the heel are made up of leather-like material, which helps heel lock, but it catches your socks when taking the shoes off. These are the only pair of shoes where I have to tie and untie the shoelaces each time I take them on/off.
• The uppers are not as breathable as my knit shoes (regular Primus Knit and Primus Trail Knit), despite being almost see-through

If I had to get a single shoe, I would stick with either the regular Primus for weight (225g) or the Primus Knit for comfort (246g). But since I'm doing a fair bit of road running, I'm happy to have a dedicated shoe for road running, and the Primus Flows seem to work well for that purpose.

I’m interested in barefoot shoes but the prices are just ludicrous. I mean, a ballerina slipper for $240. There’s certainly a lot to be said about economies of scale, but theres not a lot of material here and longevity is a pretty frequent talking point. I typically spend less than €150 on shoes.

Somewhere on this fediverse, someone posted a list of some of their successful and less successful shoe purchases from both online shops as well as Amazon sellers. There were shoes in the €50-100 range that seemed like reasonable options.

Not counting shoes that have different toe pockets, all barefoot shoes basically have this issue. Some shoes more than others.

The number one selling point of barefoot shoes is the so-called anatomically shaped toe box. But if it's tapered off then I wouldn't call it anatomical. Healthy feet aren't actually shaped like that.

Last year someone asked for a recommendation, now a shoe tailored for basketball exists.

If you've ever wondered how Japanese people seem to stay effortlessly thin - the huge amount of walking might have something to do with it.

I go to Japan for a few weeks each year and I typically end up with 15k+ steps each day.

The last few years I've worn a pair of primal Zen barefoot shoes from Lems. They're not as thin as my daily wear pairs in the US but with the extreme amount of walking I'm doing I wanted something with just a little more cushion while still being zero drop and flexible.

The pros: I love the cork insole for moisture control and the shoes are very comfortable for long-term wear. The mesh upper over the toes is great for ventilation and keeping my feet cool. The zero-drop and wide toe-box mean no back pain and comfortable feet.

The only downsides I've found are that the mesh vent over the toes lets in rain and they're not super easy to put on and off (which you do a lot in Japan). Next year I might try to find something slip-on.

Anyway - just sharing my experience. Has anyone else tried these? Do you like them?

Hi! I transitioned to barefoot shoes and I can get by without issues in my daily walks. I am not ready to run on barefoot shoes yet, so I got the thinnest Altras I could find and off I went.

Probably I overdid it on the first runs, but I got some pain on the outer part of my calf. Not the full calf, just the outer part. I believe this is the part that powers the toes. That pain may be normal, but I wonder if my forefoot striking technique is wrong. Is this supposed to happen?

TL;DR: Beginner's pain in outer calf. Is it supposed to happen or is my forefoot striking technique wrong?

Hey all, I'm retiring almost all of my footwear - After working from home in VFFs and sandals for a few years every single pair of normal boots and shoes that I own is a size or a size and a half too small. Now I'm in the market for a couple of pairs of barefoot boots that don't trash my smallest two toes on one foot.

So far I've tried the Jim Green barefoot African ranger in my true brannock size (12) and it was murder - the toebox rounds just in the right place to thrash those toes while at the same time being so wide that I have to crank the laces down enough that the boot folds over the bridge of my foot (just below the start of the tongue) when snugged down.

Here's a JG barefoot African ranger (BFAR) in size 12, these murder my smallest two toes and fold over the foot bridge when snugged:

A JG BFAR size 12½ is better but still not great, and if I use enough insole (4-6mm) to solve the volume issue my toes hit the top of the toebox on those last two toes:

At this point I'm kinda loathe to keep trying these things, maybe a 12½ or 13 in their non barefoot last (JG regular or STC) might fit with thick veg tan insoles or something but I'd rather just find a boot that actually fits my toebox instead of trying to jury rig a fit that'll never be quite right.

Anyone have suggestions here? The closest thing I can find to these boots is the Bearfoot Bruin Patriot, but they're twice the price and I have no idea what my sizing is going to be.

I'm also kinda toying with the idea of a set of Nick's boots DeltaArch half length insoles, those should give enough mid foot volume that I'm not folding boots over the top of my feet when snugging them down but that's another ~55-65$ to solve a problem that wouldn't exist with a better toebox shape around the last two toes.

Some thoughts: I'm not entirely set on zero drop, if a boot has a toebox that fits well I don't mind a little bit of heel drop as long as it's not more than something like a wedge sole. I'd be fine with a JG wedge sole boot if it fit though ideally I'd prefer no more than maybe 15-16mm of sole stack at the thickest if possible. I'm tall enough already, I don't need to tower over people in 3in heels.

So far everything that fits well has been a size 12-12½US or a 46-47EU with an anatomical toebox, VFFs in 47 fit comfortably and these Splay slides in US 12 are great too:

I'm looking for an affordable option so I can replace all my normal socks. Not necessarily individual toe socks, but just wide enough in the front to better fit with a wide toe box shoe.

What are your recommendations for barefoot basketball shoes of any at all. There are two schools of thought that I've seen.

One says, that basketball is a very intensive sport and barefoot shoes dont give enough cushion supprt for all the jumping and quick movement.

The other side says, that any movement you make is a natural movement and playing with cushioned shoes transfers all the impacts to your joints that cause damage over time.

The narrow toe box of bb shoes also doesn't help, I've been wearing barefoot shoes for around 6 months and I can't find a basketball shoe that is wide enogh without it being too long for my foot. I usually wear EU 42-43 but now bb shoes around 45 are roughly wide enough but extremly too long for me.

Does anybody have any recomendations for barefoot bb shoes or just bb shoes with a wide toe box?

As the title says. Looking for something zero drop with a wide-ish toe box that can be worn to semi-formal / dress type events. Would love any community input!

How are you managing foot sweat and comfort? Basically, what type of socks are you using?
