Btw, sudo is fine for server administration but imo too big and troublesome for desktop use. There are tools with fewer than 150 lines of code doing what you use sudo for on desktop.

While ssu doesn't need your pw, but it has awkward parameter handling and was made for file editing, doesn't work with some tools like pikaur/yay. I know there's more such tools, 1000 lines of code would still be preferable over full-blown sudo/doas. But maybe i make a mix of ssu' passwd handling and rdo' capabilities myself.

There are other directories where it can happen, and root is not the only one of them.
There are also directories that you cannot read sometimes, like /var/lib/docker/volumes if you use docker
