It's in restricted mode. Not fully private but they're not taking new submissions at least.

I am curious about why it's showing in red though. I don't see that with other restricted subs.

It turns out they were the asshole all along.

Jokes aside, I think AITA is blocking new submissions.
Certainly the last post on the sub is from a mod describing the blackout, which was published 9 hours ago.
So, they might have decided to stay public for exposure to the issue. But there is no new content flowing

They actually are bringing awareness to the issue in a direct way by not allowing new submissions, and making posts like this to bring awareness to the situation. I consider what they're doing a net good.

I like the way r/dankmemes did it most, they only allow API jokes. I think attention is more important than less engagement for reddit.

Never understand why r/games decided against, both their higher subreddit and lower subreddit did it. Also, Xbox didn't and I tried to get them too. Love you Xbox, but screw your subreddit
