Jokes aside, I think AITA is blocking new submissions.
Certainly the last post on the sub is from a mod describing the blackout, which was published 9 hours ago.
So, they might have decided to stay public for exposure to the issue. But there is no new content flowing
They actually are bringing awareness to the issue in a direct way by not allowing new submissions, and making posts like this to bring awareness to the situation. I consider what they're doing a net good.
Never understand why r/games decided against, both their higher subreddit and lower subreddit did it. Also, Xbox didn't and I tried to get them too. Love you Xbox, but screw your subreddit
Ngl it's kinda funny that r/AmITheAsshole didn't go dark.
YTA!
It's in restricted mode. Not fully private but they're not taking new submissions at least.
I am curious about why it's showing in red though. I don't see that with other restricted subs.
"AITA for not making my subreddit private?"
What happened to AITA?
Instead of going private, they only restricted posting to mod-only
It became that which it always feared: the asshole
Irony happened.
They became the very thing they hoped to destroy
they're the asshole I guess? It turns out they were the asshole all along.

Over 7000, impressive
Most impressive
Yeah that seems par for the course
I like the way r/dankmemes did it most, they only allow API jokes. I think attention is more important than less engagement for reddit.
r/dankmemes is one of the reddit meme subreddits of all time
Yes, yes you are.
Where meme?
You love to see it

r/gaming did go private. Do you mean r/games?
Yes! Corrected, thanks!
