Scarlet Caterpillar Fungus (Cordyceps militaris)

Whaaat! No way! I have been actively hunting for these, but no luck yet!

I grabbed a sample. I want to see if I can make a side from it.

That's awesome (and disturbing!) How do you tell the difference between this and club fungi?

Haha, I'm not sure. I had someone there that knew the species.

One way is to do a little digging -- you'll often be able to find the insect it's growing out of :)
