Retro as in retro gaming I assume. It's good for emulation and you can comfortably play DS games on it too.
I think it’s more that it’s an excellent emulation device.
I mean, it’s a pretty solid 8 and 16 bit emulation device and can natively play GBA and NDS games. What’s not to like?

That's either a Miyoo Mini Plus or an Anbernic RG5XX. And if I'm not mistaken, it's the latter.

What happened to the 2nd screen on the 3DS?!
Somehow the reflection of my ceiling matched the color of the pad underneath perfectly.
The 3DS is such an amazing emulation device. I love it.

In terms of their aesthetic, at least. Nuphy Air60 and the retro version of the Xtrfy M8 Wireless.
I've got GC, Wii and WiiU covered by a soft modded WiiU.
PSP and Vita with a modded Vita.
And a modded New 3DSXL for all the portable nintendo platforms.
Everything else I do on my PC.
