Congratulations! Shiai is a totally different part of Judo. So it is completely normal to learn everything anew. No amount of Randori could have prepared me for my first tournament... The intensity and ability which experienced players show made me very humble.
Definitely been there before! Good on you for getting in there and giving it a go :)

Edit: how's the toe?
:D almost back to normal. I still taped it during the competition to be safe, but I can run again.
edit: I think I'm in the bony callus stage of healing.
