You can hardly make better anti-advertisement to US weaponry than Trump is doing now. Technical quality is moved to the background. Who cares about the quality if the availability is pathetic and can become even worse any moment because of crazy political stances?
Trump is an absolute ass, and EU is working double time to replace American weapons.
Not only is USA an unreliable supplier now, they also have the audacity to charge 10% extra for the weapons Europeans are buying for Ukraine to defend Europe.
USA is abandoning their allies and profiteering on their position as the major weapons supplier to NATO.
Well guess who won't be that in a couple of decades. These things take time, but the ball started rolling already shortly after Trump became President again.
Right now we buy more than ever from USA to defend Europe against Russia. But the work to build up non US production has high priority, and has for instance created the EU SAFE program, which Canada and Japan have also joined.
I bet in 2 decades US weapons production will decline to less than half what it is now.
2 decades may sound like a long time, but in historic perspective it really isn't.
Trump has made it necessary for EU to work on independence on USA in the exact same way as China must.
EU has to act as if USA is a potential enemy, and the relations are now very similar between EU and USA to what they are between USA and China.
This is incredibly stupid of USA, and unfortunately necessary for EU and Canada because of how USA is behaving.
