Lula, Brazil's iconic working class president, wins historic fourth term in dramatic comeback
SAO PAULO, Oct 25 (Reuters) - Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva won an unprecedented fourth term on Sunday, the country's electoral court said, in a shock result that defied polls, precedent and global anti-incumbent sentiment to put the brakes on a wave of right-wing election victories across Latin America.
Earlier per Guardian
With nearly 75% of votes counted, It’s now 51% Lula and 48.9% Bolsonaro
Lula seems to be closing in on victory and the mood in his camp is increasingly excited.
This would be an absolutely sensational comeback from one of the biggest figures in the modern history of Latin American politics.
Edit: title was" Brazil's Lula overtakes Bolsonaro in runoff, with half of votes counted"

The relief I'm feeling right now you guys, after BC, I was so afraid the Nazis would win everywhere.
It is pretty amazing, especially since the US and all its tech oligarchs really poured all their efforts into this one. That it still failed is a rare ray of hope for the future.
Keep an eye on Toronto next, our mayoral election is a center-left incumbent woman vs a conservative asshole with a stupid name who somehow sold the public on privatizing our water and selling it to AI data centers
Is this real? OMG some fucking good news...
Great! Now do the right thing and fine Facebook a bazillion dollars for trying to fuck with your election.
A Brazilian dollars.
That joke was right there, laying on the ground after having fallen from the shelf of the joke aisle of your Internet grocery store, and you ran over it with your shopping cart.
It's been on the shelf so long it's grown mold.
According to Folha de Sao Paulo. Lula has basically won with 98% counted!
Update: He has won.
Very glad to see that, even with American social media putting its thumb on the scale, that it wasn't enough to sway the majority.
I hope Lula does enough that people won't grow dissatisfied and flock the fascists next time.
Huh, must say, pleasantly surprised.
Immediately you should pivot to opposing this neo-liberal and his agenda.
I wouldn't call him neo liberal, I think even social democrat is not adequate, I ahve seen he describe himself as a Social Liberal and I think that seems more adequate
