Ive done enough drugs in my life to kill a rhino and in all my trips ive never hallucinated more than visual trails and lights. This has me intrigued.

Well lemon Tek 4.5g if mushrooms and start playing "the wall" album in the dark once you really start to trip and you'll experience a lot of visuals and feelings. Like, holy hell. I was wore out from the emotional rollercoaster. It also felt like 5 hours went by, even though the album is only like an hour twenty.

benadryl causes solid hallucinations at high doses, but it's also miserable, so maybe don't

The most intense hallucination I've ever experienced by a wide margin was from salvia, which is legal for some fucking reason. Literally everything I could see and hear wasn't real. I guess I'm glad I did it but I think I'm not going to do it again. Thankfully is only lasts a few minutes.

2

Before reading this, I was going to share something about salvia as well. Its the only drug where I had actual real life hallucinations. Once after smoking it, my living room was filled with friends in a party/birthday setting (I was actually alone at that moment).

Did you consider the tiny people are always there? The mushroom just lifts the veil from your consciousness, allowing you to see them.

20

I mean, we absolutely could test this experimentally, depending on the nature of these hypothetical beings.

For example, you could give multiple participants these mushrooms. Bring them into a sealed room one by one. Ask them to report the number of tiny beings around them. Ask them to politely ask the tiny beings to remain where they are.

Imagine if you cycled ten participants through, and each told you there were precisely 11 little humans in the room. With simple methods like this, you could apply statistical hypothesis testing to the results and see if the success rates differs significantly from chance. You absolutely could do real science on this. Science is perfectly capable of testing certain kinds of supernatural claims. Science would have a very hard time trying to determine what happens after death, if anything. But invisible tiny people inhabiting our reality, that we can miraculously see if we do one very specific thing? That's absolutely testable using the scientific method.

Aha. That's what my kitten loses her mind about and starts chasing.

Welcome to my baseline reality, some take drugs to get here, others to leave here, and the ones that mother gives you, don't do anything at all

That was my first thought upon hearing about this. No article on this though has ever said if people see the same exact little people doing the same thing.

How could a chemical agent control the hallucination so specifically? I mean, distorting perception of size makes sense, but tiny colorful people?

A lot of drugs have common shared experiences. It's why you know it's nothing but turtles all the way down.

1

Really very few of them when you consider how many drugs there are. Shared experiences can be similar, but rarely duplicate details like lots of tiny, brightly colorful people. I mean, two friends who just saw a monster movie together could both hallucinate the monster, but this isn't going to happen to diverse groups living far apart.

2

anything out of science daily should be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism. Missing way too many details for y’all to get excited about some new type of trip.

I find this sketchy. There would be reports on erowid or bluelight and there are none. I think this is bs

11

It's sketchy because there is no way to force a given sort of hallucination.

It hasn't been widely available in the west and needs to be rather fresh. Heat destroys this particular effect of the mushroom, for example.

The second season of Common Side Effects is only three months away! I'm not normally that interested in animated shows, but I'm very excited for this one.

If you've not seen it, the first (and only, sadly) season of Scavengers Reign is also excellent.

3

Scavengers Reign is also excellent.

It is! Really a must watch for anyone who likes old European style animated science fiction (Mœbius and the like), I'd say.

Reminded me of The Masters of Time, which I think might have traumatized me a bit after catching it on TV as a (probably too young) kid, and only recently rediscovered, from a YouTube video of all places, after having forgotten about it for decades.

I have so many questions, the article focuses on the mushroom builogy and moves past the hallucinations pretty quick. What are these tiny people doing, do they see you, are they people or something else, do you get egfects as other hallucinations or just the tiny people? The effects of LSD and mushrooms are similar enough you recognize the sensation, is this something wholly different? I need answers!

16

I’ve heard DMT described as seeing little cities or a village of workers working away.

I wonder if it’s similar.

Also, if two people in the same room eat the undercooked mushrooms do they see the same population of little people or different populations of little people. If it's a shared experience this raises some serious existential questions, otherwise I'd chalk it up to brains are crazy.

9

I want it so hard to be that everyone is seeing the same thing and those little fools are really there!!!

4
lemmy.zip

It’s BS. There are no trip reports. I know the connesuierr drug community would buy this just to attempt seeing the little people. Can’t find a single person who says “I did this and it was….”

5

Yeah it really seems unlikely that a chemical agent could make different people hallucinate the same thing. This really sounds like stealth marketing.

2
lemmy.world

Right? It says it's a common food that has a warning to cook it for a specific amount of time to avoid the hallucinations. It must be a horrible experience where you get crazy sick and hallucinate, otherwise lots of people would be doing if recreationally.

2

Apparently the hallucinations appear whether your eyes are open or closed and last for up to a week, sometimes more depending on dosage. And those are from people who ate some that were undercooked, so presumably most of the psychoactive material had been neutralized.

It doesn't sound like a pleasant experience.

The animated TV show Common Side Effects has a similar underlying plot with people who take a specific shroom. They haven't exposed what they do, but everyone who takes it sees them.

The visuals I get from good ol' fashioned cubes come in the context of a severe and obvious intoxication. I know my jeans aren't actually turning into circuitry because it's quite clear to me that I'm on drugs. I don't think I would react very favorably to seeing hundreds of tiny humans while expecting to be sober.

That's the scary difference between psychedelics and hallucinogens: in the former you're aware of your experience, but in the latter you may think that you're actually speaking to your dead grandmother (I'm looking at you, datura).
