Israel paid $46.5 million to influence AI chatbots like ChatGPT, FARA filings show
This is not speculation. Publicly documented contracts and FARA filings show that the Israeli government has paid millions of dollars to influence social media and AI chatbots.
The largest contract went to Clock Tower X, a firm owned by former Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale. FARA filings show the company is contracted to receive $46.5 million in 2026. The contract is designed specifically to deliver GPT framing results on GPT conversations.
Clock Tower X built a network of websites to seed pro-Israel narratives into content that AI models use for training. The goal is to shape how chatbots like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini answer questions about Israel and Gaza. When Drop Site News asked a chatbot if the US should enhance military cooperation with Israel, it answered Yes. The top source it cited was a website created by Parscale's firm for the Israeli government.
This is part of a larger $1 billion influence campaign. Israel has spent over $100 million on US influence operations disclosed under FARA since 2023. It also paid influencers like Yoav Davis $161,000 and Bridges Partners $900,000 to pay over a dozen influencers. Seventeen firms registered under FARA to work for Israeli interests in 2024 and 2025.
The question is not whether these campaigns exist. The contracts prove they do. The question is how much of the information we consume has already been affected. Source: Wired, Politico, The New Arab, Democracy Now!.
