You get a full frontal shot of Billy Evans in the shower. No idea what the point of that shot was, but somehow it works with the rest of the film.

It's because "you can see everything". I'm sure Nathan asked if he could film him in the shower as a joke. Billy and Elizabeth are allegedly participating in the documentary in order to be transparent, and being naked is being (physically) transparent.

I can't believe Nathan did his own scenes!

Truly committed to his art.

Just got back from the theater. Highest possible recommendation from me. Was not at all what I was expecting.

Can you tell us if the article gives away any details that might spoil the experience for those of us who like to go into movies knowing next to nothing about it?

It gives away a few, yes. If you intend to go see it, I'd say just skip any articles about it until you do.

Yeah, it definitely does. Honestly reads/plays more like a recap. You got the right idea of going in blind.

My hot take review is that not only is it the greatest documentary, but it transcends the genre into something new Might be the greatest film ever made.

Hol'up. That's high praise that tends to have me raising an eyebrow in cautiously hopeful skepticism. I'll still not be giving my too-few Democracy™ bucks to the cinema industry, but maybe I'll find it floating in open water somewhere. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Well, I will always support open sea adventures. I know what I am saying sounds hyperbolic, but I don't want to say why I feel this way because it necessitates spoilers. The most I will say is I found myself thinking of Citizen Kane and the films of Kubrick.

Feel free to come back at me once you have seen it, but the situation of Holmes, Thernaos and the filming are so specifically unique that it's a singular 1-of-1 moment in time. I wouldn't say Nathan Fielder is the greatest director, far from it, but he was the right person, at the right time in the right place. I don't think anything quite like this has happened or can happen again.

Don't get me wrong, I am curious. The way things are these days though, anything can be propaganda and therefore the bullshit meter's doing an exorbitant amount of heavy lifting at every turn. 💁🏼‍♂️

Ooooh. A hefty amount of skepticism is the best companion for this. I'm excited for you and your bullshit meter. :)

My only recommendation is if you download, treat it like a movie theater experience. Turn off phone/tablet/whatever and give it your full attention.
