What are you playing this weekend? 2026-10-23
A busy week, didn't get to play anything over the weekdays.
Just played God of War: Ragnarok over the weekend. Some nice story elements.
Plan to play it more over the weekend, not sure how close I am to the end.
If I get time, would like to finish Pikmin 1 over the week.
No plan for anything else, until I finish one of these two.
What about all of you? What have you been playing and/or plan to play?

My partner and I got back into Warframe after a 1,5-year break, and it's been great. Took a little to get back into it but now we're reacquainted. Currently working on finishing up the star chart and the remainder of main quests, slowly farming a few new Warframes here and there.
Warframe goes so hard, but my variety of autism is allergic to grinding, so I bounced off of it after a few hours unfortunately. Still one of the easiest games to recommend tho because of their business model and the gameplay loop is pure, highly refined crack.
It is very grindy indeed. All kinds of different resources to farm for specific items and Frames. It's awesome that you can be free to play and still have access to basically anything there is to buy - weapons, Frames, cosmetics...
Their vaulting system is very good, especially compared to Destiny 2, which just yeets the stuff you bought from the game files xD
But the fact that you can trade the premium currency with other players is chef's kiss. I mean technically this mirrors the highly illegal method called "scrip" since you get paid for your hard work in currency only usable within WF. But I think it makes you view spending money on the game more as supporting the devs than in other games.
On the other hand, no other game embodies "the journey is the destination" quite as literally as WF. I only have a few hours in it but my friend with whom I played this game to no end years ago is at over 7000 hours now... And I just can't hard focus on one game like that.
Agree with your point about buying platinum being more of a token of support for the dev team, I agree. I wonder how well the studio is doing moneywise.
7000h is crazy. I've been enjoying my time with the game for sure, but it does get quite repetitive imo. It feels a lot like Diablo 3, in a way, because you don't really have to think a lot about the individual enemy encounters and the moment-to-moment gameplay but more so about theorycrafting a certain build and building up resources to afford it. It's still fun for sure, don't get me wrong, but the gameplay itself is not suuuper engaging, really.
The gameplay can definitely be engaging, but it depends on your build. You can build octavia such that the entire match becomes your own personal rhythm game, or, what I ended up doing and what kinda killed it for me, build one of the frames (was it necro smth, I forgor) such that you only have to stand in the middle of the arena, press 4, and the every enemy on the entire map dies without you having to touch the game.
That sounds both hilarious and horrible at the same time hahaha
But I guess as you alluded to it, the fun probably comes from the frames themselves and less so from the shooting. They're all very different from one another
Well that and the mod system basically define what type of game you're playing. But there's always the infinite treadmill underneath
I finished the Broken Steel side quests in Fallout 3. They weren't particularly deep, more of a glance as to what's been happening with "the thing you made happen in the ending". I should be finishing the game off for good next week.
Progressed through the final arc in Bleach: Rebirth of Souls. As expected, the appearance of the Visored was very underwhelming with most of them missing. They did finally show up in a drawing, but were immediately ignored again.
I also had my first, really challenging battle! There are usually some AI patterns you can exploit, but fighting Kyoraku as Stark without losing any of your Konpaku (Soul Points) is bonkers. Stark uses his own Konpaku for his finishing blow when awakened, so you have to do the battle in your base form, which is not great. And they really captured the spirit of Kyoraku's Bankai, too, changing the rules of combat all the time.
It's one of the abilities I was most curious about and they made it work! The Hot Potato effect is the most stressful! It basically makes both combatants invincible, but hitting your opponent passes the bomb to them and whoever has it when it explodes takes all the damage that was built up!
Fought Gypceros in Monster Hunter GU, not much to say about him. I'm starting to think my Charge Blade is too mechanical though. I charge all my phials, I use all my phials. Rinse and repeat. I need to make it more organic to actually use my Guard Points. It's just that as a Switch Axe user of many years, the very idea of guarding anything is still very foreign to me.
Next up is Malfestio, who I've been very curious about. You don't see many birds in Monster Hunter that are straight-up birds! I can only think of Aknosom, who was one of my favorites in Rise for that exact same reason.
I played MH: Wilds after couple of weeks of playing God of War, and I kept trying to block attacks by pressing L1. It was only my seikret rescuing me again and again and having tons of potions that let me survive the fights. Fortunately got the hang of the controls after a little while.
Another week of not getting around to playing much, but it will get better next week.
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Waow, I just hit the point where you can play online in squads, around 5 ish hours or so in. I'm never finishing this game lmao. Still enjoying it, as long as I'm not being bumrushed by the wildlife :D
Donkey Kong Banyanza: Didn't really mean to buy it yet but I splurged on a whim. Not far in as well, but very enjoyable. Hulk smash! Wait.. no...
And that's a wrap. I decided against buying Sports Resort for now due to the unexpected DK splurge. It's not going anywhere and my backlog is already unwieldy hnnrghh...
Also that Arlo viddy on TotK was a banger right?
Heh, Bananza is kind of a Hulk game. It's fun to just smash through everything!
It really is. And I do like having this separation of using my PC for the brain intensive games and the Switch 2 for the brain off games :D
Finished Super Robot Wars Y Anniversary Expansion Pack!
This was an odd expansion. It's a really good "alternate" final chapter for the game, adding a ton of things people were asking for in the base game - letting certain characters survive, a bunch of new combination attacks, Witch from Mercury S2 content, better closure for several story points.
But at the same time, the lack of proper integration with the base game really hurts it. How many people will enjoy going through the (very long) final chapter of the game, then jump into this DLC to go through variations of the same scenarios? I think that a mod that allows you you go straight from Chapter 6 into Anniversary Expansion Pack would be amazing and make for the best possible experience for someone playing this game for the first time.
Overall I really enjoyed SRWY. The base game is solid and fixes most of the issues I had with the previous game, the main cast is fantastic and there's a ton of great cross-series interactions. I think the DLCs are good, but a bit too pricy for what they offer so I don't recommend them unless you get them on a sale.
Haven't decided what I'll play next.... probably resuming Perennial Dusk: Kinsenka.
Super Robot Wars Y officially finished? Are there any other DLC planned or is this it?
I don't know if it was officially confirmed as the final DLC, but that's what most people assume it is.
I got Dolphin emulator recently, and now I get to experience the joys of GameCube and Wii (from a controller only though)
I’ve been playing Super Mario Sunshine for the first time and it’s amazing! Only gripe are inverted camera controls but that’s minor, it’s a stellar game
God of War is on my list too, but I haven’t played the series in years so I’m starting fresh with GOW 1
God of War 2018 and Ragnarok are very different from the previous games, but I think it works better if you have played the previous games and know Kratos' history.
They are remaking the GoW 1-3 btw. Not sure when they will be out, but if you want, you can wait for them.
Yeah I held off on buying Ragnorok because it was so different, but I’m glad they’re good games
They’re remaking it again? I was gonna play 1 and 2 remastered on the PS3 emulator
Yeah, here's the announcement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_tq12WisX8
No date yet though. But hoping for a 2027 or 2028 release. This might seem far, but when you have already waited so long, nothing wrong with waiting a little more.
Of course, if you don't mind playing the older versions, they should still be fun
