Stop buying useless shit made of plastic(and all American, because all money you pay them they will spend on gasoline, coal and useless plastic shit). It'll help a lot.
also don't buy useless shit not made of plastic because it ends up in the trash just the same but with a worse footprint.
Metal\wood\glass are at least not that problematic in garbage piles.
Wood is good, if the trees are replanted.
That's how (most at least) wood production works. And that is this way not even because "environment, etc" but because wild trees are mostly ugly rotten shit usable only for firewood. If you want quality wood you should plant it yourself.
