I have a theory that trump is like an evil spirit that feeds on attention.

If no one says his name for 24h, he will vanishe.

Celebrating violence. Definitely worthy of a Peace Prize.

Too bad I heard FIFA may be retiring their peace prize after one year.

Trump might be the only person less deserving of it than Obama.

Exhibit #354,364 that we're on the wrong timeline: Crowds used to cheer Nazis getting punched. Now they cheer Nazis punching.

64

This has always been America. The country’s moral outrage following the holocaust was just typical American hypocrisy.

In all honesty these people are only really able to do this shit when they concentrate their numbers at these rallies. It's why shitheels like Rittenhouse or the proud boys seem to rarely if ever be from the state they take action in.

1

Shaping hearts and minds. Looks pretty fucked when it's happening to us. We are all being manipulated.

lemmy.ca

Let’s be real, it’s not as if America is interested in punching Nazis anymore. You might be surprised what people would cheer if you’d get off your cowardly asses and start taking action.

And Republicans continue to say the Left is the ones responsible for fomenting political violence.

That's no contradiction. They say is with the expliciet intent to distort the discussion to support their violence.

Sometimes I complain about how Lemmy folks don't get jokes and argue about everything, but the reason I'm never leaving is probably related: people just get it around here.

Being on Lemmy in the first place requires a certain sort of situational awareness. It's full of people who looked at Facebook, and Reddit, and Xitter, and said "man something's not right here" and then took actions about it.

Statistically speaking, Lemmy users are more likely to be clued in about more things than your average internet user.

Yeah, I was just explaining Lemmy/PieFed to a friend the other day and they didn’t quite get it. I left all the mainstream social media sites because I could see what the algorithm is doing to people, but so many that are entrenched in those sites just don’t see it.

10
lemmy.world

I explain to people that I've removed algorithms and advertisements from my life, deleted my linkedin, don't use android or iOS, don't buy anything from Amazon or Walmart, and only read paper books, and then they look at me like I have three heads.

Basically the same here even down to paper books, except I’m guilty of iOS usage. I will go hang my head in shame lol

Using an OS in 2026 when we don't have viable easily obtainable full-Linux phones isn't a shameful thing. We can't all survive off the land off-grid somewhere or something, y'know?

If you care and think about these things, you're doing fine. <3

3

Appreciate that, I really only meant it in jest. We can’t do everything, but at least trying to do as much as possible is helpful 💚

His Deathday is going to be celebrated worldwide by people of all colours. It’s gonna be kind of unifying. It won’t really change much, but it’ll be a good day.

After he glitched out today, making all those weird noises I don't think that day is too far off. Like he might not make it to 2027.

My dad started making noises like that and a few weeks later could not even talk. A month after that he was gone.

Dementia Don is not long for this world.

13
lemmy.world

But given the current replacement plan, this won't be a good day either.

Honestly my worry is the cult of personality. Vance for all his bad doesn't seem to have any charisma required to inherit or maintain it, frankly I'd say there's a chance the cultists turn on him in particular.

2

They'll McConnell him. Put him in a bed with someone underneath with their hand up his arse, manipulating him like the puppet he's always been. Bet they make an intern do it. Tough job, gotta go shoulder deep.

McConnell was their test run at keeping a brain dead man moving around and breathing like a meat puppet. They may actually do a warhammer and just keep him hooked up to machines as the immortal forever president of America

It’s really going to bring back the US tourism industry. You’ll have to pre-book well in advance to piss on his grave.

7

I wouldn’t visit America even to piss on Trump’s grave. I should make that into a t-shirt, maybe…

6

I should start a mail in piss business for Canadians who want the joy of pissing on his grave from the comfort of their own homes.

6

Fucking love how the "law enforcement officers" just let the magat traitor filth (who sucker punched the real American like a little bitch) go without arresting him for CLEAR AND UNDENIABLE ASSAULT.

sh.itjust.works

You're absolutely right. No laws in a fascist state, except those used to oppress freedom.

I think their position is that it's not political violence if "they're right". That's just standing up for truth.

Political is when something is untrue like, I dunno, periods or something.

5

Yeah it’s the same mindset as; you’re a man, or you’re political, you're white or you’re political, you’re straight or you’re political etc.

Not agreeing with them is an attack on their ego and they cannot tolerate it.

1
lemmy.today

Isn't that the position most anyone is willing to take? I'm certainly no maga fan but I see online calls to violence against them on a daily basis.

1
psycotica0reply

I'm fully within a bubble here, but I'd say there are calls to violence from a minority on the left, but little to no actual violence demonstrated. There are calls for violence on the right from a larger proportion of their population, though perhaps still not the majority of them, and actual violence and murder frequently documented on the books.

I think the people on the left are often on the left because they have a certain respect for human life, unfortunately all human life, and we tend to believe in the political system more, rather than resorting to violence outside that system. We also tend to believe in people's bodily autonomy, which leads to people's right to not get punched in the face against their will. We also tend to not believe in the death sentence, even for the most heinous crimes.

Typically the calls for violence from the minority on the left are a frustrated desire to respond to violence with violence, to resist violence with violence, or to throw off the system entirely and build a new one, which often requires violence.

But there's relatively little actual violence, at least right now, with a few calls from a few keyboard surfers.

3

As a Christian Anarchist, I was reading your entire post like "YES. EXACTLY!"

I'm continually baffled by how the faith was hijacked by the violent, greedy, sociopathic despots of the world, because this valuing of human life and rejection of violence against others are central.

If only the people would read. Most people's kneejerk hatred for the gospel comes from their interactions with violent and hateful righties that go to weekly feel-good seminars to justify their misanthropy to themselves.

The rich infected and rotted the Church because it used to be a communitarian leftist thorn in their pockets.

Typically the calls for violence from the minority on the left are a frustrated desire to respond to violence with violence, to resist violence with violence, or to throw off the system entirely and build a new one, which often requires violence.

Yeah...I struggle with this sometimes. I get heated, and I get angry, and I wonder where the line is to rack our rifles and go "FINE. HAVE IT YOUR WAY." ... but I'm still deprogramming growing up in a conservative household...

2
lemmy.world

No?? wtf there’s a select few things I could understand violence over, even fewer political violence, just cause I share political ideology with you doesn’t mean I think you should get carte blanche to do whatever political violence you want. If you think political violence is ok as long as you agree with the perpetrators you’re probably part of the problem.

You have some very poor interpretation skills. Never said or implied such a thing. Put the pipe away and wake up.

This but unironically.

Tacit support by way of inaction is still support.

Going back in time and punching this kid square in the nose in middle school might have straightened him out. Would be worth a try if the opportunity presents itself.

Some people really need to learn empathy that way. "Oh, that's NOT fun, is this how other people feel when I do it??"

... First stop right after telling Adolph he has a promising and lucrative art career ahead of him. 😂
