When my kid was little I solved the monster under the bed problem by explaining that there can't be a monster under the bed because he'd have to pay me rent, if a monster snuck in they'd break monster law and the penalty for that is pretty bad.
The combination of explaining it like it's any other thing and not dismissing the fear does wonders for kids.
Agreed, big time!! Cooper and how happy he is with the toy is just so darn cute that it's almost overwhelming and makes me wanna punch a hole in the wall or something.
