Practical Web Tools: 1,400+ free utilities that run entirely in your browser (no uploads, no signup)
I've been building this on and off for the past year - it started because I got tired of "free" PDF tools that upload your files to who-knows-where or watermark page 2.
Everything runs client-side: a PDF suite (edit/merge/split/sign/OCR), image and audio converters, 200+ calculators, and some AI tools that lean on local models where possible. No accounts, no file size gates, and it works offline once installed (PWA).
The webdev-relevant bits: most of the heavy lifting is WASM (ffmpeg.wasm, tesseract), plus service workers for offline. Honestly the hardest part was memory management on large files in Safari.
Would genuinely like feedback - especially on what tools are missing. If you want to poke at the audio/video side, https://practicalwebtools.com/studio is the fun part.

There’s this bouncer who won’t let me in because I won’t make myself available to be manipulated by advertising.
Ad block detectors should be illegal and people using them should have to eat surströmming
Eat through their nose.
I walked away the samw way I walk away from "no-cash" stores. They can keep thief website and lattes to themselves.
feedback is don’t use adblock detection. it’s 2026, shared on lemmy, and you claim it’s client side anyway.
Is it free (title claim) if I'm blocked from accessing it? I don't think so. At least not freely accessible.
Is it free if I pay with personal data, tracking, and information about me being sold? I don't think so. (The block popover certainly doesn't give any information about their ad practices but I can only assume it'll be a big network tracking users.)
