Ted Lasso season 4 did very well in Apple's publicly released metrics. I'm surprised it's taken them this long to dust off a similar property, and Burrell is flyover-friendly without the MAGA stink of Craig T. Nelson.
As an aside, making it a basketball team instead of football (any kind) is smart. Much easier to cast and to film game action with a smaller team and a sport with indoor facilities everywhere.
Nelson has voiced support for conservative beliefs and politicians. During the 2008 United States presidential election he endorsed John McCain. In 2009, Nelson appeared on The Glenn Beck Program to announce that he was considering no longer paying income tax.
With the way things are, I've just started assuming that they often do the inverse: we want to do a sitcom about a coach, so which property's branding can we dig up? It also helps me make peace with it when adaptations and reboots are not particularly faithful.

Out of all the things to reboot Coach sure is one of them.

God fucking damn it! I love The Incredibles so much and this has seriously soured it for me. Fuck, why can’t we have nice things?
I have memories about it but no feelings. And I just realised that some of my memories are actually of Wings.
It's a sitcom about a coach. Just give it a new name.

Sounds bland.
perfect for network television.
