Rad! I had the same thing happen in covid times. I went for a slightly more powerful motor 😂 and thus began my coffee machine modification phase. I call it a 'sleeper' coffee machine because it looks like a cheap turd, but drives alright.
Look into manual expresso machines. Like the gaggia classic. There's a whole cottage industry of after market accessories and modifications. Everything from modified springs to adjust brew pressure to full on pid controllers that graft into the unit and take control over the whole machine.
Quick, it's your retirement party -- you have to give a long an intricate speech to your friends and loved ones. As the spotlight shines upon you, the crowd chants, implores you to deliver a recollection of your finest moment in explicit detail...!
uh, i was skiing down the bunny slope and it looked like there was a jump i could take. i was wrong. it was a hole. i biffed so hard into it i lost my hat, gloves, and one of my boots. i think i took up snowboarding after that.
The plastic on this pump looks fine, so either the motor itself failed or a rubber seal did - which is what I'd expect on a pump. The seals are the component that's most challenging to make last.

I like the idea of tuning coffee machines. Hope you built in some rad lights, too :-D

i keep forgetting to turn the RGBs on on my bike, that is a good point
This is dangerously close to exciting 😄 But this is the type of thing I can firmly get behind! Awesome work!
Thanks
Nice! How did you fix it? Solder and iron? Hammer and sickle? Crystal and ball?
Ouija board and the dead pump.
Someone really should release an IKEA product with a pamphlet that is essentially an Ouija board
We can talk to Mitch McConnell with it.

your old pump:
Duct tape, WD40 and super glue. I can make an arc reactor in a cave with those items.
Well Tony Stark made a whole rotisserie chicken in a cave!
Open, change pump, close.

Excellent work! How's the coffee?
Tastes like success
A little cream with the taste of victory
Omnissaiah be praised!
Hell yeah, brother!
It's kinda crazy to me that most coffee machines are made of plastic. Hot water rushing over plastic day over day seems like a bad idea
Depends on the plastic.

From the noise, I guess the integrated check-valve was damaged and stayed closed.
These pumps tend to last 10-30 years. Also no hot water goes through them in espresso machines.
If this was covid times, you would've been allowed to walk tge streets freely. Because coffee is an essential service.
What coffee machine is it?
Delonghi.
I have two Magnificas. One is coming on 15 years old and I've repaired it a few times now. Loves to eat the o-rings.
At least the repair was very easy.
