My wife is looking to switch to an EV, so we went to a few dealerships to check a few out.
Most had a couple of models on the lot, but the sales people were very poorly versed in how they work. Couldn't answer pretty basic questions like "what kind of charger does it need?", one guy tried to hype up their service package with free oil changes.
A few dealerships didn't even have the cars on the lot. Subaru, VW, Audi, and BMW/Mini all were missing EV models, but had tons of gas cars available. We wanted to test drive the Mini and the rep offered to let us drive the gas version instead like they would somehow handle even remotely close to the same. Overall it was a pretty frustrating experience.
This is just the standard apparently. I have been looking at cars with my wife and the salesmen are fucking useless. "What kind of engine does this have, v6 or i4 turbo?" "IDK I'll have to get back to you." "What kind of gas mileage does the hybrid get?" "IDK I'll have to get back to you " "is this spec AWD or fwd?" "IDK I'll have to get back to you."
That's me, I paid off my car and tend to buy vehicles that have already depreciated to the bottom of their value. My car is worth as much now as it was when I bought it.
My wife is looking for something larger since her Audi Q5 is very compact for our family. We can easily swing the payment but I'm just not liking the new vehicles much at all.
Nope, new vehicles are shit. Can't repair them easily. They track and monitor you, report you to your insurance. Mine fane from 2003-2016.
Wife wanted a bronco, but they suck too. Same shitty engine design as the 3rd gen escape that loves to leak cool and oil together due to faulty heads. Go figure.
When I got my car last year I did my own research, maker's website and YouTube reviews, then searched and found a Dealship with the exact model I wanted and scheduled a test drive. I knew more about the car than he was.
The dealerships don't want you buying an EV because they can't upsell you on service plans since they require very little service because they don't have a million moving parts.

Legit useless.
Like BMW turn signal installers
They're not selling cars, they're selling loans with a car attached.
Ain't that the truth!
No damn way in hell I'll ever have a car payment again. Having 3 paid off cars right now is amazing.
These people who need flashy things can get fucked with their $1200+insurance for that hellcat they need so badly. Fuuuuuuuck that noise.

And add on top of that: one that isn't fucking huge, a lot of them are large for no reason
You talking about the cars or the customers?
I wanted to test drive the new Nissan Leaf SUV this year, and I was told nobody wants them, so they don't keep them on the lot.
They did vote for a felon who wanted to keep feeding the gas industry and to limit electric cars after all...
