But I will NOT be pooled in along with the likes of MAGA, slop-generated CP, and Christian Nationalists.
I don't particularly care much on Taylor's stance among all of this, I like her music and it brings me euphoria. She comparatively makes no money from me as I mostly stream her stuff, and anything physical I do own is second-hand; I have not attended a concert of hers either (though, I will admit, if she came to the UK again, I would probably go).
They're culty them swifties but I swear I hear people complain about them more than I actually hear swifties talk about anything. I don't know what corners of the Internet people are on but maybe they should try some new ones
I think this partly has to do with the typical "bubble" effects of social media, even us Lemmings who opt for a social platform that tries not to create such bubbles or engagement algorithms, the mere fact we use this platform creates a bubble.
I don't mean to generalise, but 9/10 Swifties in a crowd probably use mainstream social media, 7/10 have an iPhone, 8/10 will be posting on Instagram nearly every day.
Almost none of them will be going home to post about it on Lemmy, or Mastodon. Therefore, as us fediverse users tend not to use mainstream social media, we simply don't occupy the same cyberspace as Swifties.
Instead, we occupy the cyberspace that usually attracts opposers to mass-media, or really anything mainstream. Swifties are effectively our opposites, and thus friction is quite inevitable.
You get anomalies of course, à la me, but, like any anomaly, it's rare.
But that bubble effect is kind of my point. Here on Lemmy I can't honestly recall every hearing anything from a swifty that wasn't started by things like OPs post complaining about swifties.
Like, we're on Lemmy, why are you (OP not you) bringing swifty stuff here? They're making the problem for themselves.
You (actual you not OP) are the extent of my swifty experience here, someone mentioning they enjoy the music but disagree with the politics, and that's only usually in response to Swifty bashing in the first place
There are a couple swifties in my extended family. All it is, is that they talk about things she's doing and they don't care about things she does wrong. It's not that big of a deal, compared to the other 3 especially.
They used to be powers for good too. I remember when she took a stand and they helped her. I'm not sure that's the case anymore. They're not talking about you, more of the die hards, trust everything she says, types.
But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived.

You don’t help your causes or win elections excluding huge swaths of the voting base if you purely want to be analytical about it.
