hellpp 😠(vent, wardrobe troubles)

Hi, just writing this post as a sort of vent but also to ask since this is a first for me.
Since the start of my transition I quickly noticed that I can't easily wear womens tops. Since they can fit tighter and sometimes be thinner, there's sometimes a couple destracting problems on my chest. I've started HRT now and even my mens fit tops are a problem since my nipples are even more prominent, and I've basically just been wearing sweaters or hoodies to hide them. Currently I'm wearing a coat, and in general wearing two layers all the time is uncomfortable and complicates my outfit choices. This would be easier if I'm boymoding, but that's kind of difficult for me given I've thrown away that possibility, and generally look queer no matter what I do.
Anyway, I thought it would be a bit too early to start buying bras (there's still basically nothing there), but clearly I have to do something. I'll ask my Mum but I think I may as well ask here too, what should I do? and if the answer is to buy one what should I be looking for? (I literally have no idea what I'm doing)

Have you considered buying some sports bras? They're a lot more low profile and can help keep things "in place" to avoid some growing pains while moving/bouncing around.
I'll definitely look for some, thanks!
a light sports bra or braette sounds like exactly what you need rn (i can't imagine just rawdogging it with exposed nipples rubbing against my top, that sounds painful)
This was my solution for the first 1.5 years. I bought two sports bras and they worked great for keeping the nips from pointing out but also didn't make a bra obvious line through my shirts.
Thanks, I'll probably end up buying one then.
It's honestly not that painful yet, just gets tender way easier, I have to be pretty careful with my headphone cord though, it's almost immediately uncomfortable now.
Super LPT: Get some KT (Kinesiology) tape! Its body safe elastic tape that is used for things like wrapping joints to support them after an injury, but has many other uses.
My GF has small tits and a lot of muscle so she doesn't fit in basically any bra ever made, at all. A single strip of KT tape vertically keeps the nipples from showing or being rubbed raw all the time, but retains the titty shape.
And you can keep it on for a couple days per use, without needing to remove through showers and exercise since it is breathable, meaning one roll of tape goes a long ways.
Sounds like nipple pasties would help. There are reusable silicone options that you just stick on. They do a pretty good job of hiding both the color and pointyness without the need for a bra.
Assuming your goal is to hide your boobs, you could try a sports bra with the pads removed or look at getting a binder. Pretty much any bra with any padding will have some form to it that will enhance your bust this early on in development, so make sure it's removable.
If you're just looking to keep your clothes from rubbing, a sports bra is still a good option, but you can leave the pads in for that extra bit of cushion.
from what i've heard, wearing a binder while the boobs are growing is not ideal, it can damage the breast tissue or prevent it from growing in the right shape
Honestly it's more the indecency of it, nipple outlines aren't a good look lol. I'll probably go for a sports bra though.
Oh, if it's just your nipple outline you want hidden, anything with even the slightest bit of padding will do you fine! I would suggest pasties, but wearing anything that isn't breathable most of the time is a recipe for a fungal infection. I'm speaking from experience unfortunately. 🫣
I thought about doing that as a quick little fix but considering I'm out anyway I'll probably feel better wearing something like a sports bra
Did that the first 4 months. But it quickly became noticeable either I had great pec or tits. (I am chubby definitely not the first option 😅)
Oh yeah, they'll get real stiff when your breasts are developing; I've had the same issue. Like others have said here, sports bras do help to just smooth everything out so they're not poking through. TomboyX is a popular brand (I'm not a huge fan of their quality, but it's tough to find trans-friendly underwear elsewhere), and you don't have to buy sports bras from them, but they do sell bralettes that allow you to wear a bra without needing to have fully developed breasts. Some of their bras even have pad slots if you'd like to have breasts while you're out of the house, or want that support as they come in.
enfemme and untag are good alternatives to tomboyx
(especially untag, their tucking panties are the best i've found)
Maybe buy one or two bras bigger than you need and something to fill them until you grow into them? A nice sports bra, or a bra with no wiring maybe.
Thanks, yeah I think that's what I'll end up doing, it sounds like the best option.
I don't know your size but personally Its annoying to have to look more for clothing. Well I think measuring yourself is a first steps to know what can you wear and then check on thrifts for any clothing. I do wear a bra even if my nips are still under construction, it will give you warmth too. Also different stores have different sizes even if it's the same size (inditex)ect
Thanks, I'll probably have someone (probably my Mum) help me shop for some.
