Impossible to avoid Flock or Axon in my area. I knew there are a lot, but no matter how I slice it, I pass at minimum 4 on the way to work. It's only a 15 minute drive, too.

You have to manually route yourself. this app uses google routing but picks the alternative routes from google that has the lower number of camers but does not actually use its own routing system outside of the ones provided by google.

Vibe-coded as all hell.

The honest part

Vela is in beta. Things break. If you need a maps app you can bet a road trip on, keep a second one installed.

It's always this "the honest part: things can break" without the real honest part that things break because they shitted this up with Claude and have zero QA.

"I build it with heavy use of AI assistants [...]"

I despise LLMs but saying the dev doesn't admit the use of them is just wrong.

Shit, fair catch. I will say in my defense that this should be in the "The honest part" section.

I've been using this app for the last month and a bit and love it. I haven't tried the fully degoogled way yet by using open maps, but I'll try that another time.

Personally I find OSM& UI really good, especially the roundabout exit number and the right lane to keep on highway or intersections, I wonder if they can make a flock camera plugin for those that need it
