It's not great. It really doesn't capture the alienness of the characters. It's just normal people reading slightly weird lines.

Wow, yeah... that was a slap in the face.

It reminds me of the Flintstones reboot by Dynamite comics, in which they allegedly do the series in a more realistic, grittier manner. To me it was more like some contemporary show or series, just reskinned as the Flintstones. The essence of the original was absolutely gone.

It looks like the same thing happening with this Strange Planet series. They didn't even try to make the voices or mannerisms seem 'alien.' Sadly, it's not hard to understand why Pyle agreed to this, though.

Yeah, they're not aliens in the show... They're just different people on a different planet (where people are blue).

Hrrrmmm, yeah. Sounds like it was probably designed by a committee, rushed to market and only motivated by money. Shame, that.

If feels like it's just a show that's had its script translated through a few languages. It loses the premise of the comics, that premise being: Blue Aliens say something differently - and leave the reader thinking "wow, we humans do perceive, and act weird" or "That's how I see it too" or "wow, these aliens show a better way of looking at things".

But in Strange Planet TV, this does not happen. The effect is lost because there's no "straight man" to play off. We the flawed human before reading the comic aren't represented in the cast. There's no straight man to compare normalities to.

Basically there have been shows that get the premise right: Mork and Mindy (1978), Perfect Strangers (1986), Alf (1986), even Alien Nation (1988), and the Fifth Element (1997) use part of this same premise. All those shows have comedy beats (to varying degrees), where the "Alien" character sees the world differently (A bit like trying to explain something to Kramer from Seinfeld).

Strange Planet TV doesn't bother showing this contrast of understandings. It's just a show where all the people are blue. It fails to capture its own premise.

Now if you want a good animated show, Scavengers Reign was very good.

@DarkCloud
I found it excellent too. It creates a beautiful and very alien world thats very believable without just resorting to "plants are purple".
That said, be warned! I couldn't finish it (yet?), because it's too creepy and gruesome. There is a fair bit of body horror!
The entire world in that show isn't just alien, it's very hostile. Really makes you appreciate being a member of the dominant species here on Earth...

It’s not bad, worth watching for sure, but doesn’t quite capture the charm and humor of the comic.

I genuinely liked it, but it's very different from the comics. It follows characters fairly closely, and gives a continuing story line that unfortunately doesn't get resolved because it was cancelled. Worth watching, but expect it to be it's own media, and not the comics brought to life

"Apple TV" isn't a real TV channel.

Therefore:

Strange Planet is now streaming on Apple TV not available yet

Or

Strange Planet is now streaming downloadable on Apple TV piracy.
