Built-in modellers vs proper sims
I've got to set some time aside to crank up my DAW or even just open up the amp sims and effects on my desktop. But I have two modeller guitars, one for electric and the one above that emulates any acoustic body from parlour to dobro (I downloaded the IR and you can hear the tin plate rattle), and I have multifx pedals that I can download sims and cabs on. I keep getting torn between the urge to experiment and "hey, it's sitting right here waiting to be played".
Given the opportunity, which way would you lean -- chasing the perfect amp sim tone, or playing a portable DSP that isn't perfect? Modelling guitar, multifx modeller or fully stocked DAW?
To be fair, the HUSH I Pro above is perfect as an acoustic sound, but some of the effects like chorus are a little cheap-sounding. The HUSH X Pro may sound really close to a strat or LP, but it definitely isn't perfect, you can hear the difference. So there are pros and cons to all the choices.
I'll admit, I'm trying to spark up some discussion in this community, but I am interested in hearing other opinions.
