20% blowout sale honestly is making me consider going index lol. But I could never justify having to mount the lighthouses

I set up 1.0 base stations once in 2016 when I got the OG HTC Vive and never took them down (except that one time when I had open it up to glue a lens back in). Now I shelved the Index and left them there for the time being.

Is it just me, or do they only have the headset, replacement left controller, and replacement tether available? You can't buy the entire kit?

They ran out of them. The index hasn't been produced for almost a year now, and first they ran out of spare lighthouses (though HTC still sells compatible ones) and now it seems they ran out of the full kits and put all the rest to a clearance sale.

Not cheap, though. 1.0 lighthouses are $100. The 2.0 model is $230. Each. You're probably better off buying a used Index kit if you can find one.

Shit, my vaccum cleaner has pulled a lighthouse off the shelf few weeks ago and I did not check whether it's working...

I had 2 lighthouses fall from about 5 feet, one lived and one didn't. Hopefully you have good luck

1600p per eye and it's over 400 euros on sale. That's...not remotely good value for that price. I can get a Reverb G2 for about 150 bucks which has 2160p per eye.

Granted, the maximum refresh rate is a bit lower, but the resolution makes a massive difference and imho it's what really matters in VR.

None of the headsets with inside-out tracking are as good as lighthouse-based tracking (Frame included), but they come close enough in most cases that the difference is irrelevant.

Could be, I don't know. I played HL Alyx on it with the Oasis drivers and it worked really well for me.

Well, it’s over 7 years old now, and they just released it’s successor at about the same price point

I wonder what will happen to the lighthouses. They are relied on by a lot of VR stuff. Is HTC going to make them? This could be awful news for the space if nobody is going to manufacture them

HTC Vive have took over, for now at least.

You reached the end
