The guy's name is Linus and he reverse-engineered Linux? Who wrote this shit, Kojima?

I mentioned this last time this was posted, but linux only has around 20 million lines of code. It's funny how people always seem to overestimate the size.

SMH with some serious management we could double that number of lines in mere months.

(Do I have to put the / ?)

But why? "Bigger is better" is realy just bullshit here. If the code has a good quality, going for quantity just for the sake of it is just plane stupid.

On Lemmy? Hell yes.

The difference in size between billions and 20 million is actually about the same order of magnitude as the difference between linux and my largest personal project (~100x).

Of course, "only 20 million lines" is a ridiculous statement taken out of context.

If your app becomes vulnerable because the source code leaked, your app was always vulnerable.

Depends on the value of the target. How many resources go into undermining Sailfish OS?

oh man thats crazy! Hope no one leaks git's source code next

Idk how the monetization of a Twitter account works in the first place, but this detail boggles my mind

Lovely :) But ok. It was win-server vs linux. At this time must've been WIN-NT or 2003. Both actually way better than their consumer OS.

NT4 was solid operationally. Stability was close enough. NT4's Deskop manager was more professional but rather inflexible.

Apache in Linux was superior to NT4+IIS in every way.

NT4 could run Exchange which was generally better than unix mail.

Most of the reason we ran Windows servers was because we knew Windows. The whole compile your stuff and stay on top of deps was beyond normal for the time.

2

Most of the reasons for me were lazyness. Everything was based on a win-domain and I never bothered giving that up 😁 But now I'm left with one 2022-server and 20 mixed Linux.

The funniest part of your comment is that you could not let Linux be misspelled without a correction, even though that's the joke.

He's even rumoured to have recently started to use AI to assist in his project...!

26

It has already been forked more than 60K times, there is no way linux can recover from this.

You should know by bow you have to capitalize "DON'T" so it really does not make mistakes. And if you really wanna emphasize it, say "DO NOT". this tells ai to really think. Know your tools!

Maybe it's just me but that site is atrocious to navigate on mobile, text and pictures didn't load until it's like half way on the page and the text does some weird animation effect when scrolling. Very distracting and difficult to skim

It turns out Windows 11 was just a backed up septic system all along.
