I used some scrap to make a center-finder

The design is pretty straight forward: a V notch bisected by a straightedge, but aligning it during glue up was tricky. If I make another I'll think about fitting the straightedge into a rabbet or something so it's not sliding around.

  • Make a plate with a V-notch
  • Slap a second plate on top the first with a straight edge that runs down the centerline of the angle.
  • Nest the sides of a piece of round stock in the V-notch
  • Trace the straight edge on the end of the round stock with a scribe or pencil
  • Rotate the round stock and repeat
  • Center of round stock is where two lines cross
