We did a DNA test on our rescue pup and got some... Interesting results.

Here's the percentages. There are clues here and in my previous posts as to where in the world our pup was born, but bonus points available to whoever can guess the closest geographical location.

Results seem accurate to me, this is my Kelpie Rottweiler. Face and size looks very similar. Super cuddly and loves the couch. He'll sprint to the bedroom if I ask him if he wants to have a nap with me.

Super smart though so you have to be careful what you say and how you say it. Adopted him and his brother at 4 weeks old and they were sitting on command by six weeks old. Knows about ten words just for "treat" because my husband and I ask each other if they've had one already before giving them one and they keep figuring out what we're saying. We have to text each other to ask if we want to take them to the park because even the inflection of asking that question with different words makes them go ballistic. They answer yes or no questions, didn't train them, they just figured it out. They also take turns while playing fetch, another thing we didn't teach them. They were playing fetch perfectly at like two months old and just naturally let each other have a turn.

Oh I love him! He is absolutely assessing you and calculating the likelihood of treats/ walks / pats.

He sure is. Just to put in perspective how smart they are, this was how young they were when they did their their first sit on command. Be careful what you teach her, she'll use it for evil (cuddles when you're busy and treats when she's already had one)

Boola absolutely aced her puppy training. Picked up every command straight away to the point that the trainer would get her to be the demonstration dog when showing a new command to the class.

I’m gonna need you to give her all the scritches and at least most the treats.

She deserves them!

Such a fantastic picture - the arms of the sofa look like fingers, like it's a tiny dog getting pinched!

The monk walked up to the dog vendor and said "Make me one with everything".

She's the bestest girl. Super intelligent and excellent rat catcher.

Could you teach your dog to teach my dog to catch rats? Thanks.

12% Dingo? How could that be anywhere but Australia?

But DINGO, dude. Do they even live anywhere else?

11

Probably not. And yes you're right she is Australian. Born in a remote outback indigenous community about a 20hr drive out of Perth Western Australia.

Dog DNA tests are nothing more than a gag gift.

Everything and the kitchen sink ahh dog

Which means they most likely won't have any breed-specific issues, and it does not make them any less cute, awesome, or amazing.

Can you confirm whether your dog has or has not, in fact, eaten any babies?

🤣

This thread made me look up the origin of the phrase. Darker and more tragic than I'd remembered. I had been thinking it was a song or a band (which, well, there was a band by that name in an episode of Buffy...not sure if that should count).

Ahhh... The days when my only responsibilities were to wipe my own butt and enjoy lunch time before the bell rang.

Don’t let your homeowners insurance catch wind of this. They’ll say “2% Staffordshire Bull Terrier huh? Canceled!”

That's clearly a lab mix. Those policies disallow every "breed" except labs so every dog is a "mutt, mostly Labrador Retriever."

If my under-the-counter tobacco dealer can ring it up as 'assorted vegetables' dog owners can do this

2

Alas, if this only meant she would live forever. Enjoy all of the criminally small amount of time you have with Boola! They are not with us nearly long enough.

Dude might have some extra chromosomes for hitting false positives or something, no offence. Although having a lot of diversity makes sense in a Dingo, they're notorious for breeding with domesticated canines, but they'd sooner eat a chihuahua, pomeranian, terrier, or even a small collie.

1

I guess we'll never know which of the adventurous relations actually interacted with the dingo.
