The new patch dropped and we are indeed back to 12 worker start.
Just letting everyone know in case they stepped away from the game. Whether you're waiting to learn how to play from pros or waiting for Blizzard to revert the patch like this, the deed is done.

Wait, this game still gets updates!? I haven't played in over a decade!
How's the Arcade population? Still healthy? Did they ever fix the game browser, so that less popular stuff actually has a chance of getting played? Or is it still just the top 3-5 games on the first page having players join, while the rest is abandoned? That was my biggest issue with the sequel. The OG StarCraft handled multiplayer a lot better IMO.
pretty sure they have a thing like SC1 where newest lobbies are at the top
arcade didn't take off quite like in BW, but I think that's because nowadays we have more choices for playing and creating games
I did make the Balance Patch Randomizer, it never really caught on though
There are lobbies, custom games are still very popular in SC2.
