Avril Lavigne wearing a Dixie Chicks shirt is funny to me. I'm sure it's in solidarity with their comments on then-American president George W. Bush, where a lot of right-wing nutjobs broke with them.
I wouldn't call Avril a celebrity, mostly because she's always been punk. I think she's gotta be about 40 by now. I've seen videos, she's still punk. I would have forgotten about her, mostly, but then she became attached to a member of my favourite band, ONE OK ROCK, and even did a song with them (but only on the Japanese version of their album; for some reason it wasn't licensed outside Japan, but only the version with her singing on it — everyone else got the version that was just them).
Of course, it's on YouTube, and of course there are no official streams. Worth checking out if you like rock music. Note that it's not a real video, it's fan-made. The song itself is real, though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l10rrNOTxYc
As for Avril on her own, I like her more pop/punk stuff, and I actually liked Girlfriend ("hey hey you you..." yeah that one), but I mostly prefer her softer stuff like Keep Holding On and I'm With You. I love her vocal range, she's a very talented singer.
I know who this is and I have never hear one of her songs or at least one that I know of as her song. Then again I quit listening to music when Joey Ramone died.
