Star Trek vs Star Wars 2: The Multiverse Collides [AI-assisted; VERY GOOD]
I saw Part 1 of this and it was pretty good and fun to watch but dead-ended: Q brings a Darth Vader and his Star Destroyer to confront Picard in the Star Trek universe. That video is summarized in the first 30 seconds here.
But this Part 2 is really, REALLY good. Next level. There are all kinds of places the author can take this.
Speaking of whom:
A lot of people have asked how I actually make these videos, so I thought I’d use this pinned comment to explain the process.
There isn’t a button I press that spits out an episode. 😂 A video like this involves hundreds of individual generations, tests, failed attempts and edits before I get something I can actually use.
I start by developing the story and writing the dialogue. From there, I break everything down into individual shots and work out the camera angles, character positions, eyelines, performances and continuity between shots.
I then create the reference images needed for each scene and use ComfyUI and MiniMax H3 to turn those images into video. A single finished shot can take multiple attempts because the movement, facial expression, performance, timing or continuity has to be right. If it isn't, I generate it again.
Dialogue and voices are another part of the process. Depending on the character, I use generated voices, voice references and, in some cases, recordings from real people. Those recordings then need to be edited, cleaned up, EQ'd and mixed with the rest of the scene.
Finally, everything goes into Adobe Premiere Pro, where the episode is assembled shot by shot. That's where I do the editing, timing, colour work, dialogue mixing, sound effects, ambience, music and all the other little details that turn hundreds of separate pieces into the finished video you're watching.
AI is obviously a major part of the toolset, but it's a filmmaking tool here rather than the filmmaker. The story, writing, shot selection, performances, continuity, editing, sound design and the countless decisions about what actually makes the final cut are all part of the production process.
Hopefully that gives you a better idea of what actually goes into making one of these videos.
