I don't know. I'm in the older set, and I totally get why younger people are so pissed, not just because of the financial structure of social security, but because seniors are politically grubby ladder-pulling bastards.
Yeah, but I do think that its worth remembering that just because anger is valid doesnt mean what you're angry at is the most productive thing to act angrily towards
As a young person I do feel bitter towards older generations at times. But that doesnt make it the right target. It works to divide BECAUSE its a legitimate hurt
My point isnt that you shouldn't be angry, its that thats not the most useful thing to *act* angry towards. Just because it makes sense to be angry about doesnt mean that thats a productive avenue to change
Thats not a place to direct anger that makes anything better. The feeling is justified, but it is also a very effective distraction
Start with the bigger problems and work your way down. Get rid of Billionaires, get rid of the conservative propoganda networks they have been funding and the un-brainwashing will be possible.
The reason you will never hear a working class conservative complain about the billionaire class screwing them is because conservatives have always been the foot-soldiers of the billionaire class.
If not for conservatives, the normal people would be permitted to charge billionaires with crimes, force them to pay proper taxes and make them pay fair wages. If not for conservatives, the normal people would be able to unionize and to protest.
Without conservatives, workers would have mandatory sick time, mandatory time off, protections from wage theft and protections from improper dismissal.
Without conservatives, the normal people could address wealth inequality.
The boss cannot be defeated until his foot-soldiers are dead.
Okay, sure, the divisive narrative is effective and everyone should be vigilant regarding any such language. On the other hand, my own Conservative immigrant mother is a glowing example of... all of it. I won't bore y'all with galling "I pulled myself up with my own bootstraps" illusory truth effect of which she's convinced herself. But this mindset is pervasive and durable. It seems almost deterministic among Strict Father Model people that they can't see how they stand on the shoulders of giants.
I'd sure love to hear any ideas anyone might have in undermining this self-dialogue that people use on themselves.
Funny (in a sadly unintentionally ironic way) that the two responses this has gotten so far are both examples of how seductive and effective it is..
It's not a coincidence that Machiavelli outlined the divide and conquer strategy 500 years ago. It was and still is one of the simplest and most effective ways psychopathic shitstains can hold onto power in the face of what would otherwise be wholly deserved condemnation and opposition.
Life has gotten worse with every generation after the boomers, who enjoyed a golden age of freedom and fun. Now the lights have come up and the music has stopped and we're all cleaning up the mess. Too many keep falling for the same dividing of the proletariat, the same finger pointing.
We're all slaves to the wealthy. Every generation. Every gender. Everyone who trades time for money is a slave to the investor class. What the hell is stopping you from finding the strength you need from each other? Group the fuck up already. Our only real strength has always been together.
Liberalism and reform is how the capitalist class divides the working class. Treatsers love their treats. Fuck these selfish ass brain washed ladder pulling boomers that don't read or pay attention. Brown noser Gen Xer's are next. The boomer is a state of mind. A vessel for imperialist propaganda

I am almost 70. I do not think like other boomers. What I do not like is being generalized.
*Not all boomers.
Why do you feel like I'm talking about you specifically? Obviously this sort of statement has 0 applicability on an individual level.

You'd be surprised how many things I can be angry at simultaneously.
Boomers don't get a free pass because there's something bigger for me to be angry at.
