we got rid of it in the past and a surprising amount of people wanted it back immediately, ALLEGEDLY it curbs seasonal depression to a degree people can notice (apparently this may be a myth). but it also effects a hand full of industries it would cost some millions in terms of the economy, of course Trump gives zero shits about that he just cares if the chaos is either paid for in advance or something he can profit from, but there are reasons to keep daylight savings.
We tried permanent DST in the past, not permanent standard time.

Daylight savings time is a failed experiment. Permanent daylight savings has been tried and was quickly repealed. Sending children to school in the dark is stupid.

I don't think that works. Calendar misprints would make every day wrong, or every day after the misprint wrong. I think the only way it would work is if the misprint was that every day was random and one happened to be correct.
