I like how posts like this one act as honeypots: you invariably get some extremely aggressive tankie comments and subsequent bans. Or at least they're identified and can be blocked or labeled.

why wouldnt they be, they are essentially the mirror image of conservatives, use the same talking points, even the same deragatory words that cons use for "left" people.

I think it was my second day as a Lemmy user and I happened to see a comment talking about lemmygrad and .ml and the other ones. The comment explained why the commenter had blocked them, made sense to me, so I also blocked them.
I have had no interactions with any of them and as a result I find my Lemmy experience to have been very pleasant. I highly recommend everyone else to block these silly people/bots/trolls as well. Seeing their sillyness is just not worth it.
They brigade basically every popular thread in every instance though, and most have alts. They're worse than thedonald subreddit was at their worst.
Sounds like you should block them as well. And I mean block their instances, not users. I haven't even noticed any concentrated efforts to brigade threads.
I felt panick rising when I switched instances and my blocklist wouldn't import 😰 but then it did 😇
I cannot block lemmy.ml completely yet, there are 1 or 2 comms that are stilll the go-to for their respective topics, but lemmygrad (imagine .ml not being tankie enough for you) and a few others are blocked completely.
Lots of instances also completely defederated lemmygrad and hexbear. Some also defederate .ml.
Personally I am very glad that I dont have to See any content from those three instances
I personally have no Block list of anything and still tbh never had an interaction with tankies xD

I have had disturbing interactions with all sorts of [insert_expletive], not just tankies. It makes me real angry sometimes, and there's a lot of people on the internet who like to trigger others like that. You know what they're called.
The block is a good tool to stay sane, instead of wasting energy on getting angry at strangers on the internet. And what I particularly like about Lemmy/Piefed: these people then completely disappear from my fediverse experience. Aah, sigh of relief.
"In what kind of threads": mostly political or adjacent (like this one) threads, often such that mention Russia, Israel, China, North Korea.
And since I like to discuss these topics with people, the block is a great tool to continue being able to do it in a civilised manner.
The only communities I have blocked are those I have been banned from (usually for my avatar) while being subscribed to them, becasue there's a bug that doesn't let me unsubscribe then.
BTW, I have no idea what capatin_unicode means. I'm guessing they're refering to hexbear/lemmygrad.
Oh im not at all against the Block function. On other platforms I also have blocked some people here and there. I just meant here on lemmy I haven't blocked anything. Just because I didnt see much block worthy yet. :) not because im against it.
With the threads there is probally just a huge difference is the language. I mostly dont leave the german site of the fediverse. there im also in politics sometimes. But... Maybe the german site just has less tankies? But also my main news source or politics source isn't lemmy so.
I'm not sure how to define it, but the German fediverse behaves very differently from the English one. And I'm so used to the English side's ways.
But that's a good thing. Diversity.

No matter how well you try to explain yourself, a trigger word is a trigger word and will trigger people. The only option is to make my comment smaller, and reserve my beef with the trigger word for some other comment.

I promised myself back in '22 I would keep it until Ulkraine can exist in peace. Hadn't thought it could take years.

Well, it doesn't take much resolve for me to keep the Ukrainian flag. It's more of a matter of life and death, since I was born and live in Ukraine.
I still appreciate all the support from people from other countries, everyone who isn't affected by the war directly but still understands the indirect consequences and importance of standing against the aggressors.
Even if it's something relatively simple like displaying a symbol, it still means to me that people far away know about us and our fight. And that gives me just a little bit more hope.
We may not be affected directly but it feels a helluva lot more real and threatening than war on a different continent. Belarus felt even closer, because it is, I live in Finland. Of course that wasn't actual war, but bad enough for the people. Not to speak of Russia itself of course, which has gotten much more totalitarian since '22.
But "one of us" (I do see myself as a European foremost) being outright attacked tops all that.
I hope both EU and NATO get their shit together and do the right thing so we can finally put an end to this and I wish you the best and may y'all never forget who's really to blame for all this.

Newsom is the one saying this - The California executive order calls out the president’s rebranding, saying it is a bid to distract from an “impotent and craven failure to take action to address well-documented emerging security and safety risks posed by that thing.”. How about the fact our tax dollars are being given to private companies who vacuum up all this free information and labor so they can distill it and charge access? How about all the contracts being issued by the federal government to these companies to implement new systems to replace human workers within the bureaucracy, giving private companies control over the mechanisms of our federal systems?
Where are all these AI companies based out of? California? Oh? Newsom isn't critical enough of this stuff.
There is plenty of problems with Newsom and I'd hate to have him as a presidential candidate. However it feels to me that MLs on Lemmy take every chance they get to bash the Democrats, especially when they are DemSocs and you'd expect supposed socialists to attack DemSocs less. That is why it feels like a lot of ya are just Republicans or fed posing as leftists online as some psyop. It is also one of the many reasons why a lot of people hate MLs online. Denial of genocides or war crimes just because they are done by "the right people" is already bad enough, but the reasons just add up.
Like the most good faith MLs I have come across are mostly the ones offline who do not do Stalin buttkissing, yet are still Leninists (and I admit my relation with those is still difficult) but they are a shitload more bearable than the ones you find on Lemmy.
I usually keep my eye on the Slop comm, because sometimes they have genuinely good content. Other times, they are so bad that I share them here.

I am against the Palestinian genocide too though. Most people in this comm are and those who arent again it: fuck them. But there are plently of DemSoc candidates who oppose the genocide. But beside that, you can criticize multiple things at the same time without selectively criticizing only one side. That is the main issue. I only see criticism of Trump on the tankie triad when he does something unbelievably stupid beyond his usual stupidity.
At the same time, when DemSocs speak out against genocide, at least people from Hexbear and some from lemmy.ml are immediately like "they're lying" and put them to way higher standards than everyone else and when they are less than perfect, they act like they are worse than the neolibs.
They're both misnomers, but the Trump variant is more dishonest and more marketable to chuds ("wait, you're telling me it's super!?!").
