That looks like quilted maple. An expensive wood that's very popular for higher end guitars. A guitar body shape has been CNC'd into it but I can't tell much more just from this picture. Maybe a hollow body top or back?

Judging from the community, a string instrument being made? I see the rough shape of the body, but I have no clue what the process is, I'm intrigued as well..
