Reminds me of the story that goes around these parts (Wales) of a far-right type demanding a pair of Middle Eastern-looking women speak English when in Britain. They were in fact speaking Welsh, the oldest living language spoken in Britain.

This is actually a situation i have experienced myself with different languages (Turkish speakers being discriminated against in a German country by an old lady and getting chastized by them). This really isn't so far fetched and probably happens daily multiple times across the world.

I just think it's more common for people speaking American to be discriminated against across the world.

You’re probably right. America is a melting pot, and, especially in cities, everyone is used to hearing foreign languages being spoken in public. Most places around the world are more homogeneous by comparison, and often surprisingly racist.
