Onosato at 11 stands 1 win ahead of Asanoyama and Aonishiki. It's make or break today.

"break" then.

Aonishiki, today against Kirishima, was at his ultimate tenacity. Tenir jusqu'au bout!

Kotozakura surprised me. I think i had the same impression as that man ☞

it will be fun tomorrow :)

Some great ozeki level sumo here. Kiri playing very smart but Aoni refusing to be denied.

I think i had the same impression as that man

The white haired guy behind him also has quite the expression.

Asasuiryu has a solid match and works through a stalemate against juryo visitor Daiseizan. After a couple long stalemates he has a great underarm throw that puts the bigger man off balance and switches up to a drive, and although Daisei's last ditch throw attempt almost puts Asa's hands down he makes an amazing recovery and shoves hard for the final oshidashi.

Ura and Asakoryu have a highly energetic back and forth until Asa drives Ura far enough to put his foot out of the ring. Ura doesn't feel it and gets a nice twisting head and arm throw that puts them both off the end. He just needed one more footstep worth of room.

Shishi doesn't know how to handle Abi's nodowa until he's able to get an underhand left grip and go for a throw at the bales, and when that fails steps back to the center and lines up another massive left throw that sends Abi flying.

Takayasu seems to be trying out his forearm to the throat tachiai this basho that's working for him pretty well. He stands Churanoumi up and gets some nodowa but then Chura parries and as he comes in for a drive Papa slaps him down.

Fujiryoga takes Yoshinofuji to the straw but can't seal the deal and Yoshi pushes back and switches to a belt pull with his inside right that sends Fuji stumbling and Yoshi closes and shoves him off the ring.

Hakunofuji almost gets a matador dodge as the bull Ichiyamamoto charges but Ichi survives two of those and pushes Haku out.

Daieisho finishes off a slap battle against Oshoma with a tidy two hand shoulder throw.

Asanoyama has to beat the tiny missile Fujinokawa if he wants to stay in the game. His tachiai gets an outside left and locks Fuji's right in the center between them as he takes him to the tawara but Fuji finds just enough space to shift his weight left and put Asa on the ground before he steps out.

Ozeki battle starts with Kirishima doing a great job keeping Aonishiki from that inside left grip and they have a brief stalemate until Aoni's drive takes him to the bales. Kiri goes for an underhook left throw that sends them both to the ground but it's not enough and Aoni gets the crush out call.

Massive tachiai collision between Onosato and Kotozakura but as the ozeki is driven back he pivots and throws the yokozuna past him to go superman flying to the dirt.

We're left with Onosato and Aonishiki at 11. Since they match up tomorrow WMH, Fujinokawa, and Asanoyama have no yusho chance just one win behind at 10.

Ura and Asakoryu

Afterwards Ura's like: "That was fun! Let's do it again!" even tho he lost.

Shishi doesn’t know how to handle Abi’s nodowa until

¡¡¡ASÍ SE HACE, SERHII!!! hesStartingToBelieve.jpg

Massive tachiai collision between Onosato and Kotozakura but

"You thought I was settling for the 8-7.... DIDN'TCHA?!?!"

Looking forward to Onosato-Aonishiki tomorrow! Onosato's 4-1 vs Aonishiki . BUT Aonishiki won last time. BUT Onosato was injured last time. BUT so was Aonishiki. AND Onosato's in a bit of a 2-match slump while Aonishiki's on a streak. So who knows.

Other matches: Takayasu vs Fujiryoga, both at 7-7 fighting for their kachi-koshi, as are Asasuiryu vs Shishi. Kirishima vs Kotozakura and Atamifuji vs Fujinokawa should be interesting too!
