Not to say this is a great idea and probably it would be expensive - especially depending on how long it's shut off - but if you can get bottled water, you can flush a toilet by pouring a sufficient of water into the bowl and then refilling the tank with the same bottled water. Actually, I guess you could just flush normally and refill the tank. (Both assuming you're in the US; I don't know about toilet designs in other countries.)

Otherwise, is it an option to get a hotel room outside of the impacted area?

Imagine driving all the way to a hotel OUTSIDE OF YOUR TOWN just to take a shit.

Oh, I don't disagree that it's an unreasonable situation, but I was more suggesting that OP get a hotel room to stay at until the outage is reversed (if financially and logistically feasible). That way they'd only have to do it once, then come back when ready.

I do understand that it's not a plausible solution for everyone, but I unfortunately don't have much else to suggest.

OP, I wish you luck.

Happened about forty years ago to my grandma. There was a chemistry spill on the river where they basically get their water from, and many communities had to shut down their wells around here. For weeks.

I had just bought mineral water for me the day before, and then i had to bring it over to gran. By bike, because I had no car. The mineral water section in the supermarket was empty. Not a single bottle in sight.

What they later did was a funny solution. There were fire hydrants on both sides of the border between the water networks where we lived and where my granny lived, so they connected them with the biggest hoses they had. Our side, who gets the water from a lake source, fed their side. Although they were told to save water.
