Aki basho 2026 - day 13
Going into the final 3 days Onosato has 11 wins with Aonishiki, Fujinokawa, and Asanoyama at 9. Looking good for the yokozuna but stranger things have happened.

Someone told Fujiryoga to smile more:
(Kirishima vs Onosato) This changes everything:
count again donDon
Onosato 11, Aonishiki 10
this can get very interesting in 3 seconds :)
yeah especially bc Onosato has not battled Aonishiki yet: https://sumodb.sumogames.de/Rikishi_basho.aspx?r=12836&b=202609
Presumably they'll meet on day 15. If Aonishiki wins tonight against Kirishima, he has a chance at defeating Onosato on day 15 and then meeting for a tie-breaker.
If Asanoyama wins today and tomorrow, it'll be a 3-way tie.
I'd read a little bit about Asanoyama before, but reading up on it again, it makes a lot of sense that he'd be in contention for the championship:
Asanoyama is 32
Aonishiki 22
Onosato 26
When i accidentally call Takayasu "old", i correct myself by adding "for sumo". He's only 36! Someone should update his profile photo on Wikipedia
OMG he looks so young there! TIL he's half-Filipino, too.
i thought he was half bear 😅
Half man, half amazing!
