Just needs a willingness to cook the planet and divert computational capacity from projects with meaningful benefit in order to allow for exploitive roles causing warped perceptions of what's acceptable.

For all that some producer gets to pocket the additional profit created in not having to pay some pesky human who might put up ethical objections.

No one cares about the shit AI "actor".

No one's gonna watch the shitty movie made with that thing.

Sweet you just need to spend on tokens, which for something like that are expensive.

And at the end of the day, especially in commercials, you're looking at costs exceeding most value for real talent.

You can get a non union commercial for about 2500+ these days. If the tokens for this actress are like 50ish dollars per rendering, you easily will have the actor being cheaper than the program.

The issue I'm curious about on a moral/ethical level is the nudity/sex aspect.

For a lot (I mean a disturbing number) of actresses, particularly young ones, there's this sort of expectation that they do a nude scene or a sex scene when they come of age. It's seen as like a rite of passage. And no one should be expected to show their naked body to anyone for validation, let alone to the entire world, and yet people who have daughters or nieces or sisters they'd be uncomfortable seeing naked or uncomfortable with many other people seeing them naked, will jump at the opportunity to see the just-turned-18 starlet pose nude in a magazine or have a sex scene with her top off in a film.

It's kind of sick, and it's absolutely depraved.

But what if it's an AI? Does it matter? Does the AI being willing to strip naked and show everything mean more real women are expected to? Or can we just have AI actresses do that? There are arguments both ways. I'm personally for, if we're going to use AI at all, using AI performers to replace human performers in sex work on film, in pornography. Take people out of the equation and the danger (of STIs first and foremost, but also the abusive environment) and let AI do that. But then you have people who want to do that, and make a living doing that, and can't or don't want to do anything else. What of them? I really don't know. But as a straight guy who's seen a lot of women naked, IRL and in print/film, I don't really care if it's AI or not, if it's CGI or not, if it's anime or not. But I'd much rather it not be someone's daughter or niece or sister. I'd also much rather it not be someone who has feelings and thoughts and is more than just genitals and breasts and a butt. I think that's a fine use of AI, because the AI isn't more than those things.

I do not want to see AI performers replace human performers in dramatic roles (or comedy but that's not really my genre). If you got a group of "young people" and there's one who gets her tits out on camera and that sells tickets, I'm fine with that character being an AI, even if they get lines. I'd rather that not be a real person. And I think it's just as well for the, er, titillating factor.

But what if it’s an AI? Does it matter?

No. Caring about it is like caring about a pedestrian in GTA or a rigged model in Blender. It only matters if it tries to look like someone real

Not really what I meant. I mean does it matter if we ask AI to do creepy things we wouldn't want a person to do. If it's just encouraging people to act that behaviour out IRL. If so, are we really preventing anything, or protecting people from anything, or just uselessly clutching pearls?

AI, 3D graphics and cartoon characters are all interchangeable in your logic, as none of them is real or exists. If you tell me that the answer to

does it matter if we ask AI to do creepy things we wouldn’t want a person to do

Is different from the answer to

does it matter if we ask AI have bugs bunny to do creepy things we wouldn’t want a person to do

Then you're getting your priorities wrong. AI is not the problem in your argument, it's the depiction of certain acts, which is a wholly different discussion.
