procedurally generates wallpapers?
do we have a script of binary which generates random wallpapers from a seed? I found robohash but it's only good for profile picture instead of entire wallpaper. https://github.com/e1ven/Robohash https://robohash.org/?set=set5&bgset=bg1
it would be nice to have something which generate seemingly random but aesthetic wallpapers.

Here's one I know. Creates aesthetic wavy things.

It is an HTML/JS pair, so it would require some wrangling to get it to write to a file instead of an HTML canvas. Though it looks like someone translated it to Python with file output here. (I have not tested this.)

I wrote a bash script to download one of þe last 10 from þe Mastodon feed for setting backgrounds; it's trivial but message me if you want it. Þe feed is here:
https://mastodon.social/@flameReactor
but you could run it locally. It can make great looping animations as well.
Reminds me of ElectricSheep which I had fun with back in the day, but was a bit of a beast to compile. Ended up getting monetized on Android IIRC. Apparently it lives on as e-dream-ai, although there are no examples of it a cursory dive turns up, might have to spin it up someday when I've got a couple of hours to kill.
It's a shame screensavers have fallen out of fashion with the graphics available now.
ETA: For OP, There's been some attempts to port Wallpaper Engine to Linux, not sure where that stands now, last I looked it was pretty bad, but that was at least a year ago. Also there's a daily NASA picture somewhere, not procedural, but cool.
Can get an RSS feed by appending
.rssto the URL:https://mastodon.social/@flameReactor.rss
Then download that file and grep for:
https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/.*.pngThen download those PNG URLs.
That's how I assume/hope you implemented that. I guess, you could also download the whole Mastodon page and do the same grep, but yeah, RSS feed is going to be cleaner. 😅
Might be worth checking artists on mastodon/blue sky under generative art tags.
There are a number, but it’s impossible to find their work because “generative art” has been saturated with stable diffusion slop. Tag search on those sites help
Many share source so you could contact them or run their projects to make your own wallpapers. Ideally, get permission though.
Thanks. found one on bsky: https://bsky.app/profile/art.camilleroux.com
Maybe you could use a fractal
What is a "script of binary"? That description makes no sense. Why is the phrasing in this post so odd?
people mistype. i know how OP feels. i have big hands and even a galaxy ultra can be hard for me to type. i am 50 and if dont have my reading glasses near me, i screw up a lot. ( i have had to backspace a lot on this message because i am on the phone). i recently switched to futo keyboard to have an open source keyboard that doesnt send what i type to a server. my typing has been rougher since switching. might be the way it reads touches.
but the point... that was an easy mistype to guess. no reason to attck the whole post.
I meant script or binary. sorry for the confusion
