Statelessness is the ultimate danger to human rights. In Canada the government will not allow you to relinquish your citizenship unless you have secured another. The primary reason is that having state insures that someone will ensure your human rights. To threaten human rights is very apish. Almost inhuman. The irony is uncomfortable.

o7 The world needs more human beings who are this brave. I'm adding this movie to my list of things to watch.

That’s how you know a movie is good!

Word. Streisand Effect, Miki Zohar!

I haven’t watched it yet.

Considering it had its world premiere just 4 days ago on an exclusive film festival, that is not surprising.

I just hope I'll remember when it becomes widely available.

Here's an early excerpt

Better to be stateless than Israeli.

Not sure if a Palestinian would agree.

To be fair I don't think many palestinian's want to be Israeli ..

Is that supposed to be a threat?

I mean, given that under the modern state system not having citizenship deprives you of at least half your rights, I'd say the answer is yes.

I was curious as to how the legal ability to revoke a Jewish Israeli’s Israeli citizenship squares with Aliyah. It does not apply to people who:

engage in activity directed against the Jewish people;

may endanger public health or the security of the state;

have a criminal past, likely to endanger public welfare.

Which sounds reasonable, but people definitely acquire Israeli citizenship to avoid criminal prosecution in other countries.
