In france tje day of the accident they called her "lady di" pronounced like "Lady die" for half a day before they caught up.
I'm pretty sure the Brits always called her Lady Di (as in "dye") as that's how her first name is pronounced in English.

ESL here, it has always been the same as "Lady Dee". Thinking about it as "Lady Dye" is blowing my mind.
Note, Diana is pronounced as Dee-Ya-Na in my mother tongue, perhaps that's why it feels more natural
English speaker - I always heard Dye. I can't imagine anyone saying Dee!

What's funny is where I grew up, that's a different name from Diana and spelled Deanna
