Seattle police officers alarmed that new 'wellness' supervisor failed to report sexual abuse in his family
Three Seattle police employees say they are troubled by the department’s latest choice to supervise its wellness unit. The position is a prestigious one and involves handling sensitive disclosures from employees and their families about stress, mental health, and substance use.
According to an internal investigation released this year, the sergeant newly named to oversee this group failed to report a long-running case of sexual abuse of his daughter by his older teenage son, her half brother. The abuse began when his daughter was 8 years old and his son was 15, and continued for seven years.
