Am I wrong for liking this, only this kind of negative changes will bring the masses to switch to something like matrix.

Can world of Warcraft guilds please use matrix or mumble?

Just a reminder that real Discord alternatives already exist, like Stoat and Fluxer.

Matrix is great, it can replace a whole lot of messaging apps, but not Discord.

Admittedly voice chat has bunch of quirks still in fluxer but to me it seems the most promising. They are even discussing federated servers which would be insane.

It’s a vibe project and everyone is gushing over it. It’s crazy.

They more recently did a refact to make it not look like an LLM wrote it. In April some friends and I went through the code base and wow was it obvious.

They’re doing that? The author has a million lines of commit in one month.

It's like people have not been reviewing shit PRs for the last 18 months because their lazy fucking co-workers don't want to code anymore.

Which one do you think is best for folks who never use voice chat? I run a discord server for my friend group but we really just post text plus funny images and videos. I'd like to migrate away from this corporate nonsense.

Better IRL event features would be extra nice to have but I'm not that picky.

If you don't use voice/video/screenshare you could use IRC. If you want native inline images, you'd probably want Matrix or Haven (stay way from Fluxer and Stoat, they're bloated vibe-coded apps)

If they actually do verification (which I haven't experienced yet) I'll just self host a mumble server.
